We are in Port Stephens, have an acre - your block looks lovely. We were worried when the tow truck got stuck on our block for a little bit delivering our shipping container. 2.5 days to get a concrete pump truck out - that would have been a worry. We are building in Luskintyre- not far from Maitland and it is about 2.5 acres! Worry is one word for it I guess- there are plenty more that come to mind The big rescue truck from O'Neills came out to try getting it out, he wouldn't touch it - it was on too much of a lean. They ended up getting a 30tonne excavator out to move it! All part of the fun and games of building I guess. Re: Our New Home - Clarendon Maitland 29 23Aug 20, 2012 12:39 pm Amazing what a bit of nice weather does! Things are flying along now- all bar the garage frame went in one and a bit days! This week we should see a trusses and roof appearing. We are now finally able to get an idea of how things are going to work on our site as it is slightly different to display. And you can never get a full appreciation for how it is going to look until its on your block! So far fascia and scaffolding in place. Will put some new pics up tomorrow One question though has anyone had any issues with their door frames? Our entry door is one of these http://www.buildingchoice.com.au/doors-and-locks/pivot-doors/infinity/corinthian-doors-infinity-infws6g/132:782/ But the frame has been sitting on a wet slab and is delaminating! Anyone else had this issue? It does appear as though we are roughly at the same point! Our cornice installer hasn't turned up today, not sure why though! Are you due for completion and handover before Christmas? We are supposed to have handover at the end of next month, but as the bathrooms are still to be done after, as well as flooring, I can't see us moving in until after Christmas. Lovely area you have there!!! Build Again I have a thread, feel free to read! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=57912 Re: Our New Home - Clarendon Maitland 29 29Oct 22, 2012 7:52 am Hi BA, Based of the contract we are due for completion just before Christmas, but I am not sure if that is likely to happen. We get a phone call around 11 every Monday but it tends to be not too informative. I will ask him today about their expected finish time. According to the plasterers the houses are usually finished around 4 weeks after they finish so that would have us in about 3 weeks before the contracted date which would be great--- it would mean we can get carpet and tiles laid and be in before Christmas!! We both love the bifolds... still can't get over the sales person trying and tender presenter to talk us out of them. While I am thinking kitchen---- does anyone have any suggestions for getting water out of slab pipe work where water and electricity run? I rained during construction and filled these up and now I am worried that they are just going to put the cabinetry over it without drying. Re: Our New Home - Clarendon Maitland 29 30Oct 22, 2012 8:10 am Forgot to add, what is possibly the most disappointing thing so far.. the colour of the exterior. The photo below shows how .... well.... white it is. It was supposed to be a light cream (actual colour Pebble Bay). Took the swatch out and it is indeed the actual colour, but you would think that the so called colour consultant would advise that this won't scale well, will be have a lot of glare, etc. I spoke to the area manager on Friday, as our SS is on leave. He advised the product would already be ordered and can't be changed. I don't get this.... if I ordered 20 buckets of this stuff through bunnings and used one realised it wasn't going to work I am sure they would let me exchange it (this stuff is not tinted in store it comes from factory like it so not opened). We are hoping it will dull down a little, maybe a colour person can advise? Or should we push to have it changed? It is only this part of the wall done so they can get the tank in and plumbed. Strange thing is we still like the colour, just not with so much light on it. We were thinking about having it also, but have only seen it on a colour chart. It does look really white, can you please tell me what colour your roof is.....thanks Re: Our New Home - Clarendon Maitland 29 32Oct 22, 2012 9:18 am Thanks Sparta, To be fair the sun was shining right on it, but it is very reflective, making it look white when that is the case. I made a joke of changing the roof to blue and making it looks like it belongs in Santorini! Our roof colour is Windspray and looks quite nice- it is also alot lighter in the photo due to sun position. Fascia and windows are woodland grey. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It does appear bright, the unfortunate thing is, darker colours fade faster than lighter colours. I always tell people to go 2 shades darker than the colour they like, as the colour washes out in the sun. My advice is to keep going with the painting, the photo you have put up is out in the elements. The bulk of your house seems to have verander's around it and the colour will darken up once under them. When its all finished post a pic and let me know if your still having problems and we'll see what we can do. I had a sample of pebble bay- was thinking about it as an interior colour- and really like it. I think the colour looks great with the roof, too. I hope that, as more is done, you like it better? I guess, worst case scenario, if you were really disappointed you could paint over it, couldn't you? We rendered our first home (an older place) and then had it painted. Ten years on, it still looks great. I remember thinking the same though- that it looked way lighter than expected. We rendered our last build (prior to this one) and had it painted surf mist. And it looks bright white, not soft grey! But I still like it lol. They have finished the exterior now, and it is settling into its surrounds a bit! and when the sun isn't too harsh looks great. I think seeing it all done helps heaps too. Pebble bay is actually one of our interior colours too!! I don't have an exterior pic of it completed yet, will get one this afternoon hopefully. But things have been happening inside too!
