It seems that many houses also have no fences. Should i be worried?
Alan, i should salute you for your eagle eyes! I will go and have a look again tomorrow. But it seems that nothing can be done at this stage, or are they?

Re: My turn: the progress (updated pics 20080507) 23Mar 28, 2008 9:02 am Hey Ahuang
I went to the house this morning, the bricks are okay and blend to the whole wall. They are from the same POA brick. I think it could be the problem of the camera. Thanks for pointing at it though. Updates: Just talk to the electrician this morning. The price come down to the followings -batten light is about $60 each -ceiling fan is about $90 each I still dont know how much they are going to charge me to run the cat5 cable, installing ceiling/inwall speakers. The builder still ask me to reconsider my decision to change the laundry sliding door from obscure to clear. The brickwork, including the windows sills will be completed today. The brickie is willing to make a mailbox for $250 (i need to supply the steel box which will cost some more). Should i go with the brick mailbox, or just a ready made one? We went to the site again this afternoon. One trademan was working on the security/alarm system when we got there. He had install several sensors for the system, but he did not put one in the garage. According to him, it is usually not necessary. He had laid the ducted vacuum piping as well. altogether we have 3 outlets in the house, one in the garage. The MOST ANNOYING thing was i had a VERY big argument with wife. She wanted to leave the site, while i wanted to stay for a while looking at the trademan's work. No, we did not have the argument infront of the trademan, but on our way back to our unit. We still not talking to each other! Enough for the naggings i shouted! Update: the builder has sent lock up invoice. i went there (this time alone, because i want to spend time at the house!!). Re: My turn: the progress (updated pics 20080507) 26Mar 31, 2008 8:44 pm We went to the house again (this time my wife was more considerate and did not say anything when i took time to admire the house )
Did not bring the camera, but i am so astonished to see that my ceiling is now almost full with the giants aluminium flexible tube for the evaporative and heating. No outlets in bath and ens. how much is if we want to add one, anyone know? electrical, the sparky has put some cable in. i am still waiting from my builder to tell (or allow) me how to run the cat5/or just string. It seems that the builder forget to put it the VAC PAN. We have four outlets for the ducted vacuum, but no outlet in the kitchen. The contract clearly state the ducted vacuum with VAC PAN? Will post photos later (forget to take camera with me this afternoon) Re: My turn: the progress (updated pics 20080507) 27Mar 31, 2008 9:05 pm Magpie

I went to the house today after the builder call me to ascertain spot for plumbing fixture, including Chili pepper (the hot water recirculator), and relocation of watertank. The plumbing is almost complete, as pipe to fridge, vanity, showers were put in. the next step is to put in the tap, after the gyprock of course, which will be next week, tuesday or wednesday. The exterior brick/windows has been complete clean (all photos below were taken BEFORE the cleaning, except the last one). the plan is gyprock next week, and then another six week before handover. Tomorrow is to see the kitchen guy to finalise all things, then see the sparky. Here are some photos. The completed living room (the sunroom, my wife favourite), the view from outside. Re: My turn: the progress (updated pics 20080507) 30Apr 06, 2008 9:47 pm Yes, as i mentioned before, the house is in lock up stage, so sometimes it becomes difficult to get in if nobody is working, so cannot give much update.
-Electrical wiring almost complete. Sparky agreed to put some wire drawer and run speaker wire (wire me to supply). He charged me $50. He was reluctant to add other things. My sparky friend has looked at the house wiring, and agreed to add some external lights, wired intercom, and couple of powerpoints after the handover. -Evaporative cooler is on the roof. -Security system, ducted vacuum, have been installed. I have added: -additional pp inside the vanity in Bath and ENS, for water recirculator. -additional "non-greywater" tap for toilet-bidet. the tank of the toilet still be from greywater, but i wont be washing by bttm with the greywater, hence additional tap. Here is the link to the toilet bidet from ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-COMPUTERIZED ... dZViewItem). Tomorrow is the inspection pre plastering. the plastering is schedule on Tuesday. here are some of the insider photos Kitchen. the light drench is from the laundry door. Re: My turn: the progress (updated pics 20080507) 36Apr 10, 2008 9:28 pm Can't believe the speed oznow...unbelievable really...everyday a little part of the house is completed...every home builder's dream
Can you please give us a timeline from the signing of contracts to date...your builder is a wonder !!! and you must feel blessed to have him. Many thanks for sharing. Re: My turn: the progress (updated pics 20080507) 37Apr 10, 2008 9:57 pm Hi blessed
The construction started in December 2007. There was a long rest during the christmas break, but it started again in January 2008. The builder is still aiming to finish by the end of May 2008. Many builders in ACT give the same timeframe, 4 - 6 months, from start to finish. If the handover is in May, discounting the holiday breaks and rainy days, it is well below 5 months. Re: My turn: the progress (updated pics 20080507) 38Apr 11, 2008 8:18 pm That's unbelievable oznow...sounds really tempting to pack one's bags and move to Canberra Re: My turn: the progress (updated pics 20080507) 39Apr 11, 2008 11:55 pm Oznow, still curious how your laundry sliding door issue ended - did you get what you wanted with the clear glass in the end?
Or get used to the idea of obscure glass and let it go? Re: My turn: the progress (updated pics 20080507) 40Apr 12, 2008 12:03 am Hi Helyn, i have asked the builder to change it to clear. I have done a little research on the internet. the clear glass let more light in to the room.
another reason, the neigbour has "obscure" windows on the other side, so they will not able to "see" us. furthermore, we are not going to be naked there. 8 6138 5 6813 |
