Re: Building in Qld - 300m2 12Mar 01, 2012 2:43 pm Congrats and love your colour choices. Looks like we'll be running in parallel on this one. I'm hoping we can meet with our SS some time next week. We're supplying so many things ourselves and I need to find out roughly when they need things so we can order in time. Do you know who your SS is yet? We haven't met our SS yet but we've been in touch by e-mail. Everything seems to be going pretty smoothly. We now have a slab and frames are onsite to hopefully go up this week. Our building thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53911 Re: Building in Qld - 300m2 - We have a frame 15May 07, 2012 10:10 pm The boys have been working hard and we have a frame up. They've also got part of our roof frame assembled on the vacant lot next door. Walking through the house the rooms seem smaller than I thought they'd be? Oh well, I hope that passes Here are a couple of pics. I also randomly knocked on the door of one of our neighbours to ask them about their fencing and learned that the place belongs to a former workmate of mine! So I'm happy that I already know one of our neighbours! Let's hope we see a roof in the next week Everything's so real now. It's given us the motivation to get our current house cleaned up and on the market! Re: Building in Qld - 300m2 - Roof frame 17May 15, 2012 9:03 pm So just when we thought all of our house related decisions were in the past we get a call from our builder saying the laminex colour we chose for our wet area cupboards isn't available as a cupboard... go figure! So it was back to the drawing board and fast! We've finally settled on what may be the most "boring" of choices - white... just plain old white. I hope it doesn't look too basic but I think it will age well and won't go out of fashion. Speaking of white - we thought we'd take the opportunity to ask if it was too late to change our kitchen and they said no so this is now all white also (silk finish). I've been looking on the Homeone site a fair bit since we made our decisions and have LOVED the white kitchens on here and was successful in convincing hubby to make the change. We're also hoping to introduce a third colour to our exterior so it is not so bland. We've asked for half strength Colorbond Woodland Grey for the pillars and chamfer boards so hopefully that looks good (I'm having difficulty picturing it but hubby reassures me it will look good). In my opinion this is the most bold decision we've made so far so I hope it pays off. Anyways, this is how the house looks today. We are hoping to have the roof on this week. I am like you all the white kitchens on H1 look amazing don't they?? and they won't date ... Re: Building in Qld - 300m2 19May 16, 2012 10:57 am Wow, once they get going it all goes up so fast. Shame about needing to change your bathroom cabinets but white is timeless (says she who is going with black wenge). However I'm with you on the white kitchen - what colour bench top are you having? We're at that happy sad stage of being locked out. Our SS reckons handover is only about a month away - what about you, you must be only 2 or 3 weeks behind us. We're sticking with the Antarctic White Diamondgloss benchtop so there isn't going to be much contrast but we hope it still works. I think you're a couple of weeks ahead of us. I'm hoping the weather continues to stay fine. The SS has given us a July/August completion date so fingers crossed for that. Glad to see your build is going so well!
