Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 29, 2012 10:30 am Hi everyone! Our site has just been cut, so I thought it timely to start a new build thread! We are building a (very) modified version of Coral Homes' Marcoola, to suit our wide, shallow block. Whilst the site was cut on 20/01/12, nothing was scheduled this week as we had to build a retaining wall. Thankfully, we got this done on 21/01, as it has rained constantly since. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Plumbing and drainage is scheduled tomorrow (30/01), however the chances of this occurring are less than zero!!!! I hope you enjoy following our thread - I absolutely love following other people's building and decorating adventures! You can follow along on our blog, too, if you like. Re: Maddan's New House! Coral Marcoola (Modified) 2Jan 29, 2012 7:37 pm Good to see another coral builder maddan.. We are building the Noosa 279 at frame stage. Be good to watch your progress.. You got a copy of you plan?? What changes did you make?? Maddan's New House! Coral Marcoola (Modified) 3Jan 29, 2012 8:56 pm Looking good madden, must be exciting to see movement on the land. Re: Maddan's New House! Coral Marcoola (Modified) 4Jan 30, 2012 11:01 am Thanks guys! Here is our floorplan: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The original can be found at http://www.coralhomes.com.au/house-designs/images/COR10788%20Marcoola%20Brochure_WEB.pdf. Due to the shape of our block, we had to make lots of changes, like flipping the entire house and then re-flipping the garage/master bedroom/study. The Activity Room was converted into a fifth bedroom (it's little, but is a Guest Room, so that isn't a great issue). We also had to remove about a metre from both the width and length of the house. We've ended up with a house that we will love, and are really excited about! Re: Maddan's New House! Coral Marcoola (Modified) 6Jan 31, 2012 2:16 pm Hi Maddan I must say I was really excited when I looked at your plan and realised it was a sort of Marcoola (I kept looking thinking yes it is the same but different?!) - we are building the Marcoola 32 in Brisbane too! I haven't come across any of the other Coral builders who are doing a Marcoola yet, so this is cool! We are about 2 weeks from going to council, I just want it all to get going already, you must be super excited! I'll be watching this thread everyday, living through your build until ours starts! I have been through your very detailed blog too - you have made some fantastic selections, loving everything! Good luck with it all, sending sunshine your way! Em Re: Maddan's New House! Coral Marcoola (Modified) 7Jan 31, 2012 2:31 pm I really like how you have moved the entrance and garage. Actually think it is a great use of space. Did you not want an activity area with sliding doors and a sofa bed? we have a 5 bedroom, 1 study home too (3 bath though) and I LOVE IT! congrats and all the best Re: Maddan's New House! Coral Marcoola (Modified) 8Feb 01, 2012 2:46 pm Thanks Em and Kiwi! Em - I know another family building a Marcoola as well. It is such a great floorplan, it should prove quite popular. I look forward to seeing your house being built, too! Kiwi - That activity room option crossed my mind, but if my children took it over, there would never be room for guests!!!!! Re: Maddan's New House! Coral Marcoola (Modified) 9Feb 02, 2012 9:05 pm Love the plan!! We liked the Marcoola but ended up building the Stradbroke 279. We moved in 5 months ago. Coral are great to deal with. We are on Brisbanes south side. Re: Maddan's New House! Coral Marcoola (Modified) 10Feb 02, 2012 9:07 pm you have guests who visit...that is nice. prob get more use than our guest room!! Re: Maddan's New House! Coral Marcoola (Modified) 11Feb 03, 2012 7:36 pm Tamara - I read through your entire thread after we signed with Coral, as I was so desperate to read through someone else's experience with them! Your house is looking lovely. Kiwi - I'd actually be quite happy without guests!! I kind of like having our house to ourselves. My prediction, however, is that that room will end up being a bit of a clean washing dumping ground!!! Re: Maddan's New House! Coral Marcoola (Modified) 12Feb 08, 2012 12:57 pm Re: Maddan's New House! Coral Marcoola (Modified) 13Feb 08, 2012 12:58 pm They are like tree stumps!!! Re: Maddan's New House! Coral Marcoola (Modified) 14Feb 20, 2012 10:53 am Some updated pics! We're looking to a roof, gutters, fascia this week and then hopefully a meeting with the electrician next week. I'm soooo happy with the progress so far! Coral Marcoola (Modified) 18Apr 15, 2012 5:50 pm Sorry for my slackness in updating this thread! The weather has been a little bit painful, but all in all the tradies have been keen to keep moving and we haven't lost much time at all. Here are a few progress pics for you... The painters are finishing up this week, so I'll have another update once they're done. After that, it's just fit-off, fit-off, fit-off. Yay! Re: Maddan's New House! Coral Marcoola (Modified) 19Apr 15, 2012 6:01 pm Oh wow...how fast has that been!!! Looks fantastic Re: Maddan's New House! Coral Marcoola (Modified) 20Apr 15, 2012 11:28 pm Love it! Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck.
