Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 28, 2012 5:23 pm Hello All,
I thought it might be fun to share my experience in building my new home on a thread of my own. Here is the dates of our build. Block of Land Found: 1st Nov 2011 Land Contract Signed: 5th Nov 2011 Colour Browse @ Carlisle: 19th Nov 2011 Colour & Elec Selections @ Carlisle: 20th Jan 2012 Tender Appointment: 2nd Apr 2012 <more to come> Well, we have decided to build a new house. It has been three years of deposits going to builders and land agents and then walking away and starting all over again. This time, this is it. If we don't do it now, we never will. We found a lovely flat block of land in Bacchus Marsh. Put our deposit down on it and its now ours. http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr139/melfordgurl/Land/SAM_0299.jpg The developer says they will start work on the roads in Feb 2012 and will take them till June/July 2012. It seems like such a long time away. Re: Building Bellmore 43 in Bacchus Marsh VIC 2Jan 28, 2012 5:38 pm Hi Melfordgurl - welcome to H1 - the most amazing resource of ideas and ppl's brains to pick.....and a bit of timewaster at times - all in the name of research of course!! So have you chosen a house plan/builder yet?? Our building thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=51657 Re: Building Bellmore 43 in Bacchus Marsh VIC 3Jan 28, 2012 5:39 pm It seems they have started or soon will be starting on the building of the roads at our new land Estate.
A couple of photos are below. Progress is a great thing. This photo is of the entrance into the estate. http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr139/melfordgurl/Land/Land_Stage1_210112_4.jpg This photo is standing at our land at the front facing west up the road. And lastly this photo is standing at the corner of our street facing North. Re: Building Bellmore 43 in Bacchus Marsh VIC 4Jan 28, 2012 5:41 pm We decided to go with Carlisle Homes and build the Bellmore 43. It is such a beautiful home design, meets all our needs for storage, large open plan kitchen with a well designed upper floor. We have put on the Montcaud façade with the large balcony which i cannot wait to see go up in Frame stage to see just how large it is going to be. This is similar to what the façade will look like, however due to the extension on the garage we will have an extra window and the render will go all around the balcony. We had our colour selection and electrical appointment on Friday just gone, and WOW.. So much choice as part of the standard inclusions (on the Affinity Range Homes) and we had some pleasant surprises like ability to choose three different colour renders for the front façade and because we have the bigger home we get things like frame-less shower screen in the en-suite etc... So far, love Carlisle homes.. The colour consultant (Laura) was absolutely fantastic, could take a joke, very experienced and by the time we got home, we had an email with our colour selections updated after she reviewed them and made any corrections.. Now that is service.. I hope the rest of the build goes smoothly. Cannot wait for it to start. Re: Building Bellmore 43 in Bacchus Marsh VIC 5Jan 28, 2012 5:44 pm Eiffel Hi Melfordgurl - welcome to H1 - the most amazing resource of ideas and ppl's brains to pick.....and a bit of timewaster at times - all in the name of research of course!! So have you chosen a house plan/builder yet?? Thanks for the welcome Eiffel.... Yes, we selected Carlisle Homes. I like the forum, its a great place to get other peoples build issues and how they got them resolved and things to watch out for too. I am struggling tho with the forum... how to add images to my thread.. cannot find where the help is either. Re: Building Bellmore 43 in Bacchus Marsh VIC 6Jan 28, 2012 5:48 pm I was just about to say I can't see your photos!! I use photobucket - upload the photos on to there, once they're on, they will have a little box that pops up with the IMG code - copy and that paste over to here and voila! Am sure others might be able to suggest other ways....... Our building thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=51657 Re: Building Bellmore 43 in Bacchus Marsh VIC 7Jan 28, 2012 5:57 pm oh cool.. thanks Eiffel.. I will use Photobucket going to setu an account now, upload my photos and put them on this forum. Re: Building Bellmore 43 in Bacchus Marsh VIC 8Jan 28, 2012 6:23 pm Photos are now working.. thanks to Eiffel for helping me out there!.. Now more to come Re: Building Bellmore 43 in Bacchus Marsh VIC 9Jan 28, 2012 6:26 pm Ooohh, how exciting - a blank canvas!! Try taking photos from the same spot each time you visit - it will be interesting to see how the area changes in the months to come! I used to live in B'rat and would drive past The Marsh most weeks - I didn't think there would be too many flat blocks there!! Our building thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=51657 Re: Building Bellmore 43 in Bacchus Marsh VIC 10Jan 28, 2012 6:32 pm I will be trying to do that.. The Marsh is such a lovely place, getting busier tho but still love the area. There isn't many flat ones, i think we were pretty lucky. When we saw this one, we pounced on it. Re: Building Bellmore 43 in Bacchus Marsh VIC 11Jan 28, 2012 8:06 pm Thought i would update the thread with some photos of some selections we made.

I saw her thread, such a lovely place Thanks for the well wishes.. hope the build goes smoothly Re: Building Bellmore 43 in Bacchus Marsh VIC 14Feb 12, 2012 7:26 pm Well, went to the block of land yesterday to see if they have started on the stage. I was expecting something more than what we seen a week ago (graded streets). Since the developer mentioned they were starting in Feb.. Myabe im being too hastey... but for a titles release time of June, i would have thought they would have started by now. Not even machinery on the land Oh well, will have to wait and see. Re: Building Bellmore 43 in Bacchus Marsh VIC 16Jul 12, 2012 1:21 pm Wimma Just wondering how your tender appointment went melfurdgurl? Is everything going ahead? Best of luck. The tender appointment never went ahead. We ended up stopping the contract with Carlisle homes. We had a setback with my fiance's health so we can no longer build a double storey. And their single homes didnt suit our needs now that all has changed. So we are now just sitting back and waiting for our land to be ready and then work from there. Since we paid the 10% deposit with the land ppl, we have to hold onto the land. Maybe we will build something much smaller than the Bellmore. Re: Building Bellmore 43 in Bacchus Marsh VIC 18Oct 06, 2012 10:01 pm Just thought i would update this thread for anyone that reads it.. We had to cancel the contract as per the previous post on July 12, 2012 due to health issues with my fiance. Since posting this comment, he has made huge improvements with physio and hydro and now we are full steam ahead with building.. but.. not with this builder. I will be starting a new thread on the new house shortly when we have started to square things away. Thanks all for the kind comments in this thread This forum is great. Re: Building Bellmore 43 in Bacchus Marsh VIC 19Oct 09, 2012 11:06 am So glad to hear your fiance is doing better! I'd love to hear more about your build. We decided not to build this year as well. It was all becoming too much with my pregnancy. We're hoping to start looking again within the next 3-5 years. Could you please post a link to your new thread in here? I'd love to keep up with your build. Good luck! ~ Sarah ~ First build was a nightmare, why are we considering a second build?! Plans on hold for a few years, doesn't mean I can't look. A lot! Re: Building Bellmore 43 in Bacchus Marsh VIC 20Oct 09, 2012 6:20 pm Thanks heaps.. yeah i bet it would be too much happening at once with being pregnant... how far along are you?? Congrats!!!!!... As soon as i start a new thread i will post it on here..for now tho, i am more excited about the estate actually starting so on my other thread i am updating that one http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=54353 I have posted this before: We hired Darbecca to do every stage inspection, and I strongly recommend them to anyone that asks me. They were amazing. Thorough reports… 2 4481 Thanks for your reply. I will just wait and see I guess. Trying to get some more information from our builder. 9 30236 |
