I want to ring the builder and ask how long to earthworks start but I know I am being to eager and don't want to be a pain. How long do you reckon is a reasonable time to wait before one starts annoying people

Is it normal to have a meeting onsite before earthworks commence?? Our site plans says:
FINAL SITING OF HOUSE & SEPTICS TO BE FINALISED AT THE ON SITE MEETING BETWEEN THE BUILDER, CLIENT, PLUMBER & LOCAL AUTHORITY

Don't they need to put everything where it is on the site plan that has been approved by council already? If so, why would we need to have a meeting to work out where everything goes

That makes sense. I was a bit confused because on some threads it seems people don't get a meeting until bricks start.

I spoke to the builder today, just to make sure we get a meeting onsite before they start digging and discovered that we are probably looking at 5 weeks till anything happens on site (not 2 like I was told when I was getting upset with them over the issues with council). Apparently it'll take another week or so for scheduling to finish, then another week for the client liason to familiarise herself with our file then 3-4 weeks to book everything thing in (isn't scheduling for booking stuff in??). On the plus side, I won't injury myself doing cartwheels now

The light shop told me about not being able to replace the globes. This seems to be the way with a lot of the LED lights I was looking at including many of the downlights. I thought that was the stupidest thing I had ever heard and went home to hubby wanting to know why he was insisting on LEDs when they cost a fortune and you can't replace globes. His response was "they don't blow like normal lights" and he reckons by the time they need replacing the cost for the new light will the less than all the replacement globes we would have bought for the other type of lights. I'm not 100% convinced but I still want them because they are so pretty

This building business is turning me into a girly girl I have always been a bit of a tomboy and never really gave two hoots about pretty house stuff like lights and curtains/blinds. When hubby first said he wanted downlights throughout the house I was like "whatever I don't care about lights anyway" but then I actually started paying attention to them and OMG there are some really nice/pretty/fancy ones out there! And now I've fallen in love with curtains! I was planning on getting timber venetians just because they would look good from the outside and tie in the our front door, gable thingo and garage door. Over the last couple of weeks I have been looking for cheaper options so we can afford to get hubby's shed straight away (in his mind the shed is much more important than how the window coverings look from the outside) and I have discovered the world of curtains - WOW Problem is, the curtains I love are more expensive than the timber venetians It maybe time to dust off the sewing machine If I start now, I should be finished by the time we move in
