For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Building with Dechellis in Mt Barker 122Dec 10, 2012 1:45 pm Time for another update, it's been a while! Thanks everyone for your lovely comments and compliments, it is great to have it all done and finished with builders. The list of things still to be fixed by the builders is not too long, it all came together in the end. Some issues with the final handover payment were resolved - it is a long story but basically the bank paid them the money early and then the builders woudn't return it. We were incredibly anxious that further work wouldn't be completed to our satisfaction, especially after the office staff got heavy-handed in emails, however our site supervisor was fantastic and helped us a lot, even went and told the office people to pull their heads in! Cannot say enough good things about him! All worked out in the end, the final handover was ok, but we didn't need that extra stress. The big news is we are about to move in, just finishing off final flooring today. Carpets went in last week and look great, although the installers left an awful mess. I wasn't too happy as I had spent the previous 2 days cleaning and scraping all the floors ready for them, and first thing I noticed coming back in was all the mess. However after vacuuming it looks amazing. Bamboo flooring was generally easy to lay (although DH did all the hard work) and also looks great. Have some pics to post soon, will do it all together once the skirting boards are back on and carpets properly vacuumed! Moving in Wed/Thur this week! Then panicking getting house ready for Christmas - luckily we have the alfresco area as there is absolutely no garden/landscaping. A friend suggested getting old carpets to lay outside doorways until we get paving down, not a bad idea! Will post pics soon, after I've caught up on everyone else's news!
