Fantastic to hear you're nearly at PCI/handover
Tiles make all the difference and yours look lovely, I do particularly like light beige colours

Re: Building with Dechellis in Mt Barker 106Sep 03, 2012 8:17 pm EKS Didn't miss the kids too much either (although I think DH missed me a lot by the end as he had to take over!) Discovered a fantastic homewares shop called "Crate and Barrel", which I WISH they had here in Oz. So many cool things. Too big for my bags I bet DH missed you alot by the end.... the kids were probably yearning for mummy to be back! Crate and Barrel - nice name, Sounds like a great Homeware shop E. I love homewares shops - I could spend all day just going through the ones on Magill Rd Quote: However, here are some pics of the gorgeous dark choc splashback. It's super reflective so was hard to get a good photo Love the colour of the splashback. Good choice. Quote: We're not sure if we should upgrade the powerpoints to a brushed glass or something speccy, or whether we'll not care about the bright white once we're in the house. Suggestions? thoughts? We ordered carpet today - stainmaster party proof. Still not sure on colour, thinking a dark brown, but will have to take the swatch up to the house to colour match with walls. I think the Saturn power points look pretty nice. They have them in some of the Scott Sal homes in Northgate and I think in St Clair some homes may have them. But they are very expensive. DH and I might just put a few in the main living areas and hall ways to minimise too much spending on speccy light switches and PPs and go standard in the bedrooms. I am sure your sparky can fit them in later if you change your mind. Some of my friends have gone with white and they don't even notice it. We are also thinking of going for a dark brown carpet and with thick underlay so it is even softer under foot. Hmm.... how nice would it be after a long day at work, entering the house taking off your heels and walking on a cloud like carpet..... Can't wait to see more progress E.... xx Re: Building with Dechellis in Mt Barker 107Sep 04, 2012 12:01 pm we got 2 saturn swithes for our kitchen to swap over after handover, but only one is installed at the moment, there was issues with the wiring of the other one because it has the oven saftey switch on it too, but the coffee machine is infront, so we havent worried about it yet. your kitchen is looking great Re: Building with Dechellis in Mt Barker 108Sep 06, 2012 9:54 pm Thanks everyone for advice on switches, I think we'll be checking out the Saturn switches again, but might wait till we've been in there for a bit. Colours have been chosen for floors - getting a coffee coloured bamboo (formaldehyde free, just in case) and the Stainmaster party proof in a colour called "galaxy." We got the thickest one we could - I also love the idea of coming home to soft floors after a long day! However as we're having bamboo in the family areas and passageways we'll also have a supply of slippers for all our visitors - going to try to have a shoe-free house (except for parties, of course!). We were originally supposed to have handover today, but various delays have meant the house isn't finished. The SS had to take some leave and that seemed to mean the tradies then took time off too! So when the building inspector came through last week the house wasn't anywhere near ready for handover. We have agreed with the site supervisor to wait another week but as we don't want them to rush and possibly skip something, we might see about extending the date further. Will have to see. It's a bit of a pain to have the delays but we're not in a firm rental contract so the only possible hiccup will be getting everything done before christmas - everyone's counting on us as we'll have all the space! I've started packing some stuff into boxes at home, hope we don't have to trip over them for too long! Nearly forgot - we just about had a repeat of someone else's air-con drama - we now have a butt-shaped hole in our ceiling from the unlucky air-con installer! Lucky he didn't fall all the way through, but I don't know if the flashing's guy will be too enthusiastic about coming back again. I asked DH to get a pic for me, will post it later... Re: Building with Dechellis in Mt Barker 109Sep 12, 2012 2:27 pm Sorry to hear about the delayed handover and the hole in the ceiling For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Building with Dechellis in Mt Barker 110Sep 13, 2012 2:18 pm Thanks McLaren! It didn't help that the bank valuer was going through the house the next day and saw a huge hole instead of a neat and tidy vent! Think it's fixed now, though. Still no handover date scheduled but the painters have been really busy. Hopefully next week we can do another inspection and then book in handover. DH might be away, bit nervous doing it all by myself! Re: Building with Dechellis in Mt Barker 112Oct 03, 2012 8:01 pm Hi LynneY, no handover yet, the saga continues!!! Only a month or so late.... the latest is that the SS doesn't want to handover without power connected, so we're trying to get that organised, now ETSA are being difficult and we have to re-schedule them to come again. In the meantime, we've had another inspection with SS and building inspector, and the list of other things to do is getting shorter. I was away in Hobart last week for work so couldn't be there, and DH has just left for a work trip so handover won't be til he gets back!! So many delays... we just want it all to be done right. The house is great but there are a few little things, paint, tiling, silicone not up to scratch. I'm sure a few more weeks won't seem so long once we're in there, we've already waited so long for this house!! But after days like today I just want to be up there pottering in the garden (well, pulling up weeds) in my own place, not a rental... How are your plans going? Got a date for final selections or start date yet? I need to see some action happening on other people's build, as there's not much happening on ours at the moment! Re: Building with Dechellis in Mt Barker 113Oct 04, 2012 12:46 pm Sorry to hear you are still waiting but good to get things right before you handover ... we had terrible silicone throughout the house and a lot of it had to be taken up and redone (by someone else thankfully) - and some of it still looks awful Hope you are in soon - look forward to seeing some handover pics!! That's 2 sleeps to go! We have been ringing all the people we'd paid deposits for and arranging delivery of appliances, hot water, solar panels, phone connection, flooring, carpet, lights.... but until most of that is actually installed we can't move in However electricity finally connected and running water (DD has already christened one of the loos!), so all looking good. TOTALLY recommend getting a building inspector (Thanks Mclaren for the contact details), we actually got him back a second time as the house was no where near ready the first time when the builders said it was "practically complete". Worth the extra money, though. Have had terrible dramas with the bank but will not be commenting yet as I don't want to jinx anything before thursday. Will make sure I take lots of pics on the day once appliances are in - should make the kitchen look awesome! And of course it hasn't been cleaned yet.... VERY excited! Re: Building with Dechellis in Mt Barker 116Oct 23, 2012 9:57 pm Hi E! It has been a long time since I have posted anything too. We have had hiccups with Council so we haven't even reached contract stage yet so it seems our build start will still be some time away. It has been stressing me out but we are working through the council issues and we have been dealing with a very professional young planning officer at the council office. I won't go into detail until we get our final approval. It seems we are on our way to getting an outcome once all paperwork is submitted. Don't want to jinx it either. It is very exciting about your handover. I can't wait to see all your appliances in and the complete kitchen! Bring on the photos. Re: Building with Dechellis in Mt Barker 117Oct 29, 2012 9:01 pm We have the keys!! All went really well last Thursday, and we are so excited! Have a whole heap of pics to share, and now all the hard work begins for us - trying to get it all done before Christmas so we can move in. Not sure if it will go as planned as DH has lots of work coming up, but we'll be busting our guts to get it done soon! Hot water, flooring, some lights, curtains/blinds... not too much, really So, here are the pics - tried to put them in a bit of order... enjoy! http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/eningelgen/WP_000506.jpg Front of the house (this is from a few weeks ago, before they took the bin away) http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/eningelgen/WP_000508.jpg Family room (also from before the windows were cleaned, much better now!) http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/eningelgen/IMAG0267.jpg Front door http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/eningelgen/IMAG0269.jpg Side of porch/lounge room http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/eningelgen/IMAG0270.jpg Formal lounge http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/eningelgen/IMAG0276.jpg Main Bedroom http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/eningelgen/IMAG0271.jpg From main bed, through WIR to en-suite http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/eningelgen/IMAG0274.jpg Ensuite http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/eningelgen/IMAG0266.jpg Laundry http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/eningelgen/IMAG0262.jpg Main bathroom - vanity http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/eningelgen/IMAG0263.jpg Main bathroom - shower http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/eningelgen/IMAG0264.jpg Main bathroom - bath (and view!) http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/eningelgen/IMAG0260.jpg Family room through to alfresco http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/eningelgen/IMAG0279.jpg Kitchen The bobcat still needs to come and clean up around the house, before we can do paving or landscaping. Over the next few days we need to decide on kitchen lights - pendants over the island. Then install the floors, get the rest of the lights done... but it's so nice to have the keys and be able to go whenever we want! Air con is working, garage door goes up and down... ovens and stove are ... I want to move in with a sleeping bag already, but it's still pretty dusty, and probably will be until we get the floorboards in. LynneY, sorry to hear about your slow progress, hope things get moving again soon! Councils can be quite demanding (and often not logical), but you'll get there! Can't wait for you to start posting plans and selections, and then all the delays will be forgotten... Re: Building with Dechellis in Mt Barker 118Oct 29, 2012 9:15 pm love the pics, YAY for handover! gotta love the bathview too So pleased for you; the house looks wonderful, love all the light rooms, the kitchen and splashback and the bathrooms https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: Building with Dechellis in Mt Barker 119Oct 30, 2012 8:46 am Woweeee it looks absolutely awesome!! It looks pretty clean and tidy, do you think they 'cleaned' everything before handover? Is that a welcome present that I spotted on the kitchen bench? I love the views out of your windows - you are very lucky! Your build seems to have gone really quickly....did it fly past for you guys? CONGRATS AGAIN!! Re: Building with Dechellis in Mt Barker 120Oct 30, 2012 8:55 am looks great love the window over the bath go upvc window frames ensure insulation under colorbond. not just sarking, lighter color roof also not sure if you have seen this viewtopic.php?t=5823 last couple of pages… 4 110564 Even if it's not being sub-divided and you want to keep it as Torrens title, you will still need to talk to a town planner or Council themselves, to see if they will allow… 1 11035 |
