Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 18, 2012 8:30 pm All, I am thinking of sticking a data cable in the fridge cavity wall for future use - with the theory that eventually in my lifetime there will be fridges with TV\internet (that are affordable). Just trying to get everyones opinion on this.. do you think Im crazy??? I have spare data cable so setting up the cable is no real issue. Appreciate your thoughts\feedback Cheers, Alpal Building PD Heathmont 40 BLOG: http://alpal-pd-heathmont40.blogspot.com/ Deposit paid 19/08/2011 Contract signing 3/10/2011 Site Start 10/11/2011 Slab 23/11/2011 Data cabling in fridge cavity - your thoughts? 2Jan 18, 2012 8:52 pm Personally, I haven't bothered (and I have over 70 data points in my house). I can't see myself needing high bandwidth to the fridge. I think if data is ever needed then wifi will suffice. I do have data points at the kitchen benches for a networkable TV. In my opinion technology and white goods lifecyles are out of sync. I get a new fridge every ten years or so, but computers get updated every two years. There have been a few Internet fridges but they have all been very expensive and a bit of a gimmick. You are probably right - might be slightly overkill and worst case scenario it will probably use wifi.
