Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 18, 2012 4:23 pm Hi all, New to this forum and indeed to Australia. Just relocated from UK in November and already know we did the right thing. We have started looking into the land and home packages and met with a couple of companies. All seems pretty straight forward, however having read the reviews of the 2 companies we have dealt with so far I am very reluctant to continue any further in this process. Hubby on the other hand says as long as we research it will be fine. Is it a worthwhile process??? I am worried about delays, having to move rental accomodation god knows how many times etc........ Thanks in advance Re: To build or not to build?? 2Jan 18, 2012 4:49 pm Welcome to Aus from one ex pom to another. Of course not, but you'd be cussing on twitter if power went down for 2 hrs. 13-08 Moved in 13-05 Build restart 13-04 VMIA compensation 12-08 Builder liquidation 12-03 Fixing 11-12 Lockup 11-11 Frame 11-09 Slab 11-09 Start 11-07 Contract 10-11 2K deposit 10-06 Titled land Re: To build or not to build?? 4Jan 18, 2012 6:03 pm zeitgeber All builders have bad reviews, because those who could be bothered to write reviews are those who have had bad experiences. Well tbh I have given good reviews myself......but that's just me I guess. Know what you mean though. It's just worrying, some of the horror stories. Re: To build or not to build?? 5Jan 18, 2012 6:08 pm the answers to your questions will depend alot on whereabouts in australia you are going to build, and of course the builder. as pp said, dont go by reviews....for every bad review there are 20 people that are happy. and some reviews come from a lack of knowledge.
