Re: How much stress can one person stand? We will soon find 32May 31, 2012 6:20 pm Hi cantsay, Wow I have read your thread with disbelief. I cannot believe how unprofessional and unfriendly they have been. I actually love their display home, but will now look at a different builder for sure! I did want to ask though, were you happy with the services provided by HBA? We are thinking of using a broker and getting our own design & quotes. Good luck with the rest of your build and I hope everyhting gets solved and you can soon enjoy your new home. Best wishes Scoofy Re: How much stress can one person stand? We will soon find 33Jun 07, 2012 1:38 pm This build lurches from one screwup to the next.... We recieved the invoice for the tiling stage last week. We checked on the tiling on the weekend, through an unlocked laundry door. The tiling was 3/4 done in the main bathroom, but only just started in the ensuite. I emailed the builder this week, saying I was happy to pay the invoice, but the bank may disagree considering it isnt complete yet. I got an email back insisting that the SS had been there Monday, and it was complete. And that due to us asking for "extra areas of tiling" we would have to pay a variation of OVER $18K!!!!! We have done no variations to the tiling. At all. We went to the house last night and had a look - the tiling is still incomplete. I emailed this info to the builder, only to be assured that it is definitely complete. Now I dont mind mistakes, but blatent ****** make me mad as hell. I asked to meet the SS at site this morning, to see this "finished" and "extra" tiling. Needless to say, I got no reply. Close to the time I asked to meet him, I called. He said "Oh no, cant meet you, way too busy". No kidding. Im supposed to be working. When I asked about the incomplete tiling, he claimed he never insisted it was finished, and it was the tilers fault we recieved an invoice. The "extra tiling" was apparently the walls in the ensuite toilet. The plans clearly say "full tiliing to all walls" for the toilet. Now, if we HAD asked for extra height tiling in a toilet, should it cost $18,000???? That, to me, is rediculous!! On the plus side, we are having rectified porcelain tiles in the ensuite, and the tiler seems to be doing a beautiful job with narrow grout. Now that that is sorted out, we will wait for the next drama. Yeehar. Re: How much stress can one person stand? Best wishes Scoofy Hi Scoofy, Im sure a lot of builders screw things up, but after the customer service we have recieved, I wont recommend Kerdels to anyone. As for HBA - from the few people I have talked to that have gone to HBA, they have all ended up with Kerdels. Ill let you make your own conclusions from that.... HBA did the drafting of our plans for Kerdels, and ours had a LOT of errors in them, and more errors keep popping up as we go. They will save you money, but make sure you go through your plans with a fine toothed comb! We had windows up the wrong way, missing sinks, wrong towel rails, kitchen cupboard heights incorrect, recessed ceiling disappeared, etc etc. We also found that emails we sent to them regarding what we could negotiate with the builder, were forwarded on to the builder. Anything you ask to be changed in the design you need to check if it actually gets done - several times changes to design were forgotten / not done. As a side note, the lady they recommend to do a 3D image of the inside of the house - the price quoted is NOT the full price!! the quotes we have recieved from tradies they recommend have been really good otherwise. On the plus side, the quality of most of the build so far seems good (with exception the guttering and roof leaks), and the finance department lady has been very helpful in dealing with our clueless loan manager. But the stress of constantly looking for errors and stuff-ups and trying to get them fixed has been considerable for us. Client Liason is an absolute joke. Re: How much stress can one person stand? We will soon find 35Jun 12, 2012 12:31 pm With the violent storms that have hit Perth, I sent an email CL, asking if the problems with wall cavities filling up with water (that we have been asking about since April) have been fixed, or if we are going to have water coming through the walls again. The response was that our SS had gone on holiday, and our place is being looked after by the first SS again. The one that was aggressive and nasty. Greeeaaat... Apparently he says the water problems "are all being taken care of". Now I dont believe this for a minute. We have another huge storm coming in tonight, and we will be going to the house tomorrow to take pictures of the water damage. From there I have no idea what to do. Its obvious that they dont care about the water problems and we keep getting fobbed off. Re: How much stress can one person stand? We will soon find 36Jun 12, 2012 12:39 pm Oh how horrible cantsay. Hope they finally do something and fix all these errors for you Re: How much stress can one person stand? We will soon find 37Jun 12, 2012 1:02 pm I read your thread in disbelief, cantsay! What a joke! It boggles my mind that a company who advertises on their website that they 'build your dream home' and 'give you high quality products and service' could be advertising such ******. I hope it all works out for you and I hope the stress is over once they hand over the keys and you can happily wave goodbye to them! Re: How much stress can one person stand? We will soon find 38Jun 14, 2012 4:05 pm Someone fron the building broker is going to meet us out at the house next Monday to have a look at the problems we have been having. Can you believe the tiling STILL isnt finished?? Despite the fact we recieved the invoice for it weeks ago? They have paved the driveway - leaving the water meter sticking up through it?!?!? They also appear to have forgotten to install pvc piping under the driveway (which we paid hundreds of dollars to them to do). Re: How much stress can one person stand? We will soon find 39Jun 14, 2012 4:11 pm Who is building your house?? Monkeys?? Actually monkeys would probably do a better job! Re: How much stress can one person stand? We will soon find 40Jun 14, 2012 5:50 pm It is raining as I am reading this. I am in complete disbelief, *hugs*. Our house is locked up, but even prior to the windows going in it stayed dry through the big storms although we are thankfully NOR. This picture is not right: http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i114/ ... 100134.jpg We have a downpipe like that and it is sicking out from the gyprock, not under it like that picture - they have not extended it far enough, it should be poking out about 1-2 inches. I cant believe they left it like that, its common sense that it should poke through. Edit: Just re-read the beginning, your using a private building inspector, brilliant. Have they made any recommendations as to how to get this company to fix their mistakes? I assume you have spoken to the various registration boards, what about consumer affairs? Sorry!
