Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 18, 2008 5:34 pm After the demolition, the builder required to provide Hygienist clearance certificate to indicate that there is no residual asbestos in the site.
Should the demolition provide it or I have to apply for it. Also, do I need to call Council for post-demolition inspection? Thanks, Re: what is Hygienist clearance certificate after the demolition 2Feb 18, 2008 10:19 pm we just demolished a house in NE Melb and everything was covered by the group that did it. The only paper work I was involved with was writing a letter of consent and providing the deeds. Everything else was done by them...
Mind you they are the council 'recommended' group so probably know how to deal with them (if you know what I mean). I suppose it all depends on the company. Did they send you a written quote/agreement? Anthea Re: what is Hygienist clearance certificate after the demolition 3Feb 19, 2008 9:21 am Hi rldragon,
I would be interested to see what comes of this - as we had a house demolished with asbestos too. No one has asked us for a hygiene certificate ... yet! At what stage did the builder ask for the certificate rldragon? Also which builder are you going with? thanks ![]() donuts Re: what is Hygienist clearance certificate after the demolition 4Feb 19, 2008 9:50 am ![]() we just demolished a house in NE Melb and everything was covered by the group that did it. I just wonder they may not fully comply to the councile requirement, eg call the councile before and after demolition for inspection. Should I call the council to double check? It is required before any construction work start, We are with Cla**end*n. Let you know when I got it. Re: what is Hygienist clearance certificate after the demolition 6Feb 19, 2008 5:32 pm I have checked with my builder, actually they will accept the certificate from the license demolition. So I don't need to get the OHS hygiene certificate from third party which may cost $600-1500.
By the way, if you want to check the license on asbestos and demolition contractors in Sydney, Contact the Asbestos and Demolition Unit of workcover on (02) 8260 5885 Re: what is Hygienist clearance certificate after the demolition 7Mar 19, 2008 10:59 pm A Hygienist is usually an independent contractor that will clear your site for you. Yes a licensed Asbestos removalist can do this. The company that demolishes for you can give you clearance, if you pay independently for site clearance certificate they will point out anything not up to standard or the code of practice. you can then take that back to then demolition company to have them decontaminate your site if hygienist is not happy with it. Some demolition companies will apply for your permits some dont.
The builder may have asked you to get a site clearance certificate if he notices contamination which you wont be familiar with. If you applied for permit and paid the deposit you can ring the council. If the demolition company applied for permit and paid deposit they usually would, you can ring and ask council they will advise further. Re: what is Hygienist clearance certificate after the demolition 8Mar 20, 2008 9:19 am Thank Mel08, I had given the clearance certificate from demolition company to my builder. My Builder accept it under condition that if hygienist is not satify, they will stop the work. If that happen, I guess I can ask demolition company to have them decontaminate. They all seem to be rendered over like this. It’s a bevel build. We are getting a dilapidation report however they are coming out tomorrow after the demolition has… 3 6319 Absolutely you can, it would be far easier than seeking a modification to your current consent. all the best Simeon 2 1966 ![]() Just wondering if you got your OC ? we are in NSW and are also having a few issues getting ours.
