Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 13, 2012 9:17 pm We are currently at lock up stage and the only invoice we have received was for the slab. We did receive an invoice for frame stage but was canceled by our builder as the slab crumbled to pieces hence why they canceled that invoice. But slab has been rectified and we are at lock up and plaster has been hung and being finished as we speak so.... Maybe the builder has forgotten to invoice us? ..is this some sort of compo from our builder due to the month long delay caused by the slab faults? ..who knows? But my question is ...obviously I'm benefiting by not getting invoiced as im not paying extra on my interest, ...Is there a negative by not being invoiced? ....will we be inundated with invoices once they potentially realise they may have forgotten? ..will this cause a problem with my bank? ..any other issues that may arise from this? Cheers. Re: No invoice for progress payments, construction continues 2Jan 13, 2012 10:06 pm That's a weird one. If the money stopped coming in our builder would stop work on our build in a heartbeat. Still, it's not like companies ever forget the financial side of things, which makes you wonder if it's all just part of the plan. I would definitely be on the phone about that one. Cover your ar$e, and all that. You don't want to end up being liable for several thousand if they realise they've made a mistake in this department, because if they have, rest assured they'll come knocking for everything they'd have been due. Re: No invoice for progress payments, construction continues 3Jan 13, 2012 10:15 pm Glad to hear your slab problems were fixed up - I remember your thread on the subject. You'll probably be hit by multiple invoices close together, but I still think it works in your favour not paying interest now. We received 2 invoices on consecutive days, one for lock up & one for fit out, that's just the way it worked out. Not that I was happy getting them 2 days before Christmas as the builder closed up. I'm pretty sure they can't charge you any interest. The standard contract says you have to pay an invoice within 14 days of receipt. They can't charge you interest if they haven't invoiced you. It's only if you don't pay after receipt. So getting 2 invoices at once may seem like a lot, but you've still saved interest on your loan. It may just be that the person who processes the invoices is on annual leave or something.... You may get them all at once or in quick succession, but I wouldn't worry too much about the bank. As long as they draw your loan down within the stipulated time-frame, they probably won't mind. Definitely call the builder though..... You know you'll be getting them eventually and I'm pretty sure they won't be handing over the house to you until they get paid. But, just in case someone has accidentally sent them to the wrong address or something, you do have a responsibility to ensure that everything is ok on your end, so that they can't come back with interest charges or something because you didn't query them. Hope this helps! 5 6802 Hi, I am approaching end of the build. My final invoice will be given to me soon to pay. Some context before I ask my question. 1.
