Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 11, 2012 1:43 pm Has anyone changed their minds on part of their plan, and been able to modify it or add to it after contracts have been signed, but before building permits have been applied for??? Re: Has anyone changed their minds.... 2Jan 11, 2012 5:52 pm We made quite a few changes after we signed the contracts. Bentley homes were really good about it but obviously has put the build back abit but atleast we are getting everything we wanted. Saves doing it later on after we move in and probably costing alot more. A bank is a place that will lend you money only if you can prove that you don't need it... Re: Has anyone changed their minds.... 3Jan 11, 2012 6:01 pm Thanks what I think. We have to live in it. The contract lady said no straight off, then we contact the sales rep who has looked into it and said it can be done, but it will take up to to 2 months, very different to 'no it can't be done'. Re: Has anyone changed their minds.... 4Jan 11, 2012 8:03 pm Depends on your builder - who are you building with? The bigger the company (not always, but as a common answer) - the less likely they will allow it... or at least it'll come with a cost. Our builder will let us make as many changes as we want, even after construction has started - with the only cost to us being the cost of making the actual change (ie: materials etc).. Blog: http://matt-and-jo.blogspot.com.au/ Purchased Block: August 2011, Block Settled: Dec, 2011 Contract Signed: 28/6/12, Site Works Started: 9/11/12 Re: Has anyone changed their minds.... 5Jan 11, 2012 8:17 pm I change my mind on a daily basis, lucky for us we have a great builder who doesnt seem to mind. Like Matt&Jo, we just need to pay the cost for any materials etc. However that is the benefit of building withe small guys. If you really want to change it change it, or you will regret it. Re: Has anyone changed their minds.... 6Jan 11, 2012 8:19 pm dazandstace Thanks what I think. We have to live in it. The contract lady said no straight off, then we contact the sales rep who has looked into it and said it can be done, but it will take up to to 2 months, very different to 'no it can't be done'. The contract lady said no because changes mean more work for her. They're just being lazy when they say no, that's all. If you had to pay a fee per change (outside of the cost of the change itself) and that fee went straight to the employee tasked with redoing the contract, I imagine they'd be a bit more receptive, but these days if people aren't going to get any more money they don't want to do any more work. Re: Has anyone changed their minds.... 7Jan 11, 2012 8:55 pm I am building with the same builder as Dazandstace. I do have a couple of minor changes that I would like to make, but they do give a hefty variation fee. I am still tossing over my head if it is worth to ask. There's a few things we were going to upgrade or price for upgrades, but we weren't comfortable with our colour app lady, (she was very un-interested and it felt like she had better places to be, electrical lady was fantasic though). We realise now we should of been more forward then. The variation fee I will cop, fair enough, we just feel the change will be worth it. We want to widen our alfresco area as its very small and will only just fit our table atm. I feel what she said wasn't truthful & we were made to feel like we are painful, it just means more work for admin etc. We haven't got a price yet, my guess if they really don't want to do it, they'll price something outrageous. I have my parents getting new home order quotes with them and my best friend is pricing with them too, so it's in the builders interest to make us happy customers Re: Has anyone changed their minds.... 9Jan 11, 2012 9:56 pm Let us know how you go, approach the sales consultant and ask him to push it from his end, I am sure he will be interested in the additional business your family/ friend is bringing in All the best Orchid 4200 with Burbank: Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53034 House Built in 7 Months and 2 weeks Re: Has anyone changed their minds.... 10Jan 12, 2012 9:07 am We were allowed to change the colour of our kitchen counter top and we were at the framing stage - thankfully we didnt change the category so there wasnt a charge for the change. We had the same flat out no when we called less than an hour after our colour appointment to see if we could change the colour of our render from paperbark to dune (after making the decision in haste without looking a pics of the colour) - colour document had been signed and we weren't allowed to change. It's not liike we had signed contracts or anything! Good luck getting them to agree to your change! Haven't got the exact break up, but we are paying an extra $7085 for the larger alfresco on top of the original $3460 so $10,545 all up. This includes variation fee of $1000 (maybe more??) our alfresco will now be 3.5 x 5.3. A lot of money, but it's the type of thing we will want to use. It's a lined alfresco also made as part of the slab. Re: Has anyone changed their minds.... 13Jan 12, 2012 9:09 pm I am glad you were able to squeeze that in. I do not have a liaison at the moment to talk about m change. I do not have a liaison at the moment to talk about m change. Must be frustrating having no one. What are you wanting to change? I feel what we are doing is the right thing. An expensive way of doing it though Hi All, we are starting to think of building with Masterpiece Builders in Victoria, has anyone had any feedback or experience with them 0 13588 Hi we are looking to talk to people who have built with them recently. We have signed mid range built contract but identified that a lot of things are not included.… 0 704 I work with owner, he/she is my man on the ground and I instruct them when to visit the site and take photos and I have other tools in the bag. 4 15265 |
