Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 18, 2008 8:35 am As some people know - we've been waiting about 19 months for our land to look something like a building block. We have our builder & design picked out, our wishlist of upgrades and changes and are starting on landscape ideas. All we are waiting for is the gutters to be put in - apparently that is all the builder needs to do the soil test & contours as the gutter tells him where the level of the land is.
We took our mortgage broker out for a look on the weekend - and though we couldn't get on to the block itself - it appears that a gutter is now in place! (Sorry the shots are blurry - we are about 500m away and I was using my mobile phone camera) http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee276/amanda_simple_savings/Land%2016%20Feb%2008/DSC00027v3.jpg The white circle is the approx location of our block And here is an enlargement: http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee276/amanda_simple_savings/Land%2016%20Feb%2008/DSC00027blowup.jpg We also saw the same piece of earth moving equipment taking down small trees on the block (I wish they could leave them there!) I will be investigating further in Thursday - perhaps the construction site manager might let me take a wander up there. Or I might just sneak up - every time we drop by the site office is open, but no-one inside! After 4 years - we're in! Re: Possible progress on our land! 2Feb 18, 2008 8:40 am WOW, getting closer now Stonecutter!!!!
Can't you go in there after hours - when they're not working??? Looks like a lovely area. I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. Re: Possible progress on our land! 3Feb 18, 2008 8:44 am Unfortunately they have a huge 10 foot fence with barbed wire on top that gets locked at the end of each day.
I might try and get the land sales manager to get me the site manager's number and see if I can make an appointment of sorts to visit the block. I certainly don't want to get run over accidently by earth moving equipment! After 4 years - we're in! Re: Possible progress on our land! 5Feb 18, 2008 8:19 pm I agree with P, looks like a lovely location. After all of the waiting, to finally see some progress must be so satisfying. Hopefully you can arrange access to the block for some pics, which we all want to see of course

From the other side, hope it's not too close to your house, it won't be nice to have golf balls damaging your windows or roof tiles.... Re: Possible progress on our land! 9Feb 28, 2008 11:44 am Hi Allan
Because the area is high fire hazard, there is a fire trail road at the back and along the golf course side - then plenty of garden beds to keep people out. We'll need to fence in our land - but only with a 1.2m high pool fence - so we still get our view Luckily we are just at the tee area - so unlikely to have balls coming our way (thank goodness - some lots were for sale around greens - that's just trouble waiting to happen!) After 4 years - we're in! Re: Possible progress on our land! 11Feb 28, 2008 12:28 pm hmmm ....... I'm a hacker and seldom swear on the golf course as I expect to hit bad shots
On other hand I have played with many good golfers who have much higher expectations and hence much stronger reactions when they do eventually hit a poor shot enigma Re: Possible progress on our land! 12Feb 28, 2008 12:51 pm Anyway, apologies for hi-jacking your thread
I love your location - being next to a golf course adds value, provides a nice view (which can't be built out) and attracts plenty of the local wildlife - so yes, very jealous! I also empathise re your block of land - we find excuses to make weekly treks out to view our block from approximately 400m. How tragic enigma Re: Possible progress on our land! 14Feb 29, 2008 8:07 am Perhaps we'll put up a nice sign near the fence! Or when we have kids - sit them out there with a sign & container that says "swear jar"
Hubby plans on putting a locked ice box in the fence somehow that will contain our (almost) halfway cold snacks and drinks. If the game is going badly - you can take out some beer. If it's going well - then stick with the gatorade! After 4 years - we're in! yes it is possible but watch for noise transmission, decouple as best you can. Maybe wider top and bottom plates with 70mm studs to allow the cabinet to be recessed fully 1 6610 You can wash over existing pavers with 10% solution of water and hydrochloric acid, then wash off. The acid will provide for required bond key with new concrete. 1 36925 0 9761 |
