Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our tri-level, side split floor plans! ~ Almost @ LOCK U 141Mar 10, 2013 9:12 pm I'm glad its blindingly obvious to everyone else... I can be a little OCD some times, and have to have things perfect... so everyone else's response is reassuring. I'll bring it to the SS's attention this week.... although I partly want them to leave this one installed a little longer to avoid the final door being damaged! lol This one already has a few dings on it... The thing is the door is only meant to have 6 panels, so do you think I should just ask for a new one? The panels should all be bigger - and more balanced. I agree though - its quite clear exactly where its meant to be. grr! i would be asking for a new door as that one does not look right. asking for the new door to be put on closer to hand over is also a great idea. our front door was damaged and SS has told us that new door will be put on closer to handover to avoid it getting damaged Re: Our tri-level, side split floor plans! ~ Almost @ LOCK U 143Mar 11, 2013 10:00 am I also have an Infinity door and your glass looks the same size as mine. http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s507/grumblebum54/029a.jpg Our internal door handle is smack bang in the middle between the third and fourth pieces of glass which leads me to believe you have a taller door than normal. Do you have elevation pictures as the one which shows the front door may have the door height written on it? Regards, Grumbles Re: Our tri-level, side split floor plans! ~ Almost @ LOCK U 144Mar 11, 2013 10:06 am The elevations just show 1020w INF6G... It's not a pivot door, just a standard... Originally we had the taller version but they cut it back to standard from what I can remember (it was originally an INF8G to compensate for the additional height).. The elevation also shows 6 evenly spaced glass panels, not 7 and not with a huge panel at the bottom. Maybe the decision to change it to standard was not passed on, do you have that info in writing? If not you may have to revert to the INF8G, but the current door cannot stay as it is fugly. Speak to your SS and maybe get an email from head office agreeing to change the current door just in case you need the reference further down the track. He said he would speak with the estimator who ordered it and I haven't heard anything else yet. Don't worry, I WON'T be letting it slide - ill keep asking. I had a few run ins this week with the SS (ill explain in my post later with the pics) so I'm just laying low for a few days... Lots has happened since the last update... including insulation, heating & cooling duct work, electrical rough in and the plastering! Last we checked was on Tuesday afternoon and they had begun to install the cornices in most rooms.... Whats next? I believe it is now on to fit-out - so things like walk-in robe fitout, wardrobe shelving, kitchen, pantry, linen, etc. I am a TAD excited about the fact I should get to see my kitchen soon... I just hope it turns our just nearly as amazing as I was convinced it should be. Fingers crossed! We had a small run in with the SS about a week or two ago when the people installing our heating/cooling caused some delays and did less than quality work.... we got through it, and we think (hope) that everything was sorted in the end, but it has caused a bit of friction between us. I called the SS earlier in the week seeking an update (as per our sign up documents, he is actually meant to contact us once a week with an update on progress - pfft!) and he didnt bother calling me back until 5:15pm tonight.... and because I was delayed at work, I missed it! ARGH! Oh well - we will go out there tomorrow to have a sticky beak, and hopefully we will be able to catch up with him on Tuesday to get the low down. I'd love an updated estimated time for completion, but I don't want to get my hopes up.... I really think it should be finished well before the end of August though! We also have no progress on the front door being fixed, so I need to chase him up on that along with a few other minor bits and pieces. Below are some progress pics (what you have all been waiting for!)... Enjoy! Brickwork is completed, and i'm really loving how the colour turned out... Can't wait for the wooden cladding (painted in Surfmist) to go up on the top floor so the colour scheme starts to come together! Our plumber wanted the carpenters to seal off the "return air" vent, to stop it from sucking in all the insulation from between the two floors - and our SS didn't think this should be his responsibility.... argh !! Now, we have plaster, and no-one can tell me if it was or wasn't sealed..... and i'll be mighty annoyed if they didn't!! Don't even mention the fact the niche is off center ... I have already questioned it (because I specifically said I wanted both the niche and the taps centered on the feature wall...) but I am now being told it cannot be done, so I am having to bite my lip, let my OCD simmer, and just let this one slide... I will admit, once the shower screen is in, it will be centered to the screen and shouldn't be so screamingly out of place. *sigh* Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bedroom 4 (which I have dubbed the nursery, for if and when I am lucky enough to convince Matt to have kids!) We also got all the insulation off cuts put in the framework around the bath, which should keep it nice and warm.. followed by a shot of the shower in the main bathroom. I hadn't realised it'd be plastered on 3 walls, I thought it would be 2 plastered, and 2 glass... so it's quite small, dark and gloomy at the moment. We may have to get extra lighting in here.... I am so amazed at how much they have gotten done, and how quickly it is popping up out of the ground after months and months (and MONTHS) of planning. I really do need to thank everyone here for all their help and suggestions along the way, as it is a combination of everyones ideas that have made this house, OUR HOME! We went out there today expecting to see some progress, to be bitterly disappointed... nothing new has been done since last monday! (ok maybe some sanding or something, but nothing of any relevance - or more importantly, nothing I could take photos of!).. They have delivered the Linea boards for the top story, so these should start to go up next week I would guess... these will be painted to match Colorbond "Surf Mist"... and other than that, we are just waiting to see what happens next. I really hope the kitchen isn't too far off, and I also hope that the SS remembers my request (which I reminded him about on several occasions) to change the pantry overhead cupboards, back to shelves! (the draftsman changed these on our very last plan change and we didnt pick up on it! argh!) Fingers crossed!
