Is there a big difference between the two? Re: 2c bricks - Extra charge? 5Dec 23, 2011 12:04 am Casa2 Using 2c bricks is cheaper than regular sized bricks (parts plus labour). Just wondering why am I being charged extra for using 2c bricks instead of the regular ones? hmmm Re: 2c bricks - Extra charge? 7Dec 23, 2011 4:08 pm 2 course bricks were standard with our Scott Park house, which suited us. The single course would have been an extra cost. 10 years ago when we built our first house the 2 course bricks were an extra cost. Like the 2c look but don't really want to pay extra thousands (knowing that other less expensive builders giving you that option for free) Re: 2c bricks - Extra charge? 11Dec 26, 2011 11:16 am Hello again, I'm not a builder, but here's why I think 2c bricks should be cheaper (I've applied logic here..... Other logical explanations are welcomed!): 1) because 2c bricks are larger, you would need to buy less. 2) larger bricks means less mortar required. 3) larger bricks, less labour intensive So, while a single 2c brick may cost more, I think that the extra mortar and labour costs would offset this.... But that's just a guess, not based on factual information gathered. Maybe you could use this when querying your builder? See what the response is.... We liked 2c brick, but then if 1c is better (I don't know, more stronger if you can say that) I guess we just have to go with 1c. While on the subject: which one is better Austral bricks or Midland Brick? I've spoken to one of the representatives and they were saying something about amount to groves or density of the brick. Can someone in the know clarify this? Thanks Re: 2c bricks - Extra charge? 14Dec 27, 2011 9:00 pm Casa2 Are we talking about internal or external walls? Both I guess. I think they're using 1c red bricks for internal walls anyway, am I right? Re: 2c bricks - Extra charge? 15Dec 27, 2011 9:51 pm AubinGroveFan Casa2 Are we talking about internal or external walls? Both I guess. I think they're using 1c red bricks for internal walls anyway, am I right? Internal walls don't matter if they are 1c or 2c bricks since they will be rendered over. Go for the cheapest. I think 1c bricks look best on the outside, assuming they are face bricks. If rendering, same as for internal bricks. Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 If you already have a contract, is the inspection cost stated in there? If not they would be forced to issue you a variation which you could of course object to. 12 25866 |
