We will have met practical completion next week and have our PCI booked in. Anyone else who has had theirs, was there anything major you picked up on? We have noticed a lot of cosmetic things so far but not anything major. Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 3090Feb 01, 2016 2:55 pm Hi Neighbours, I am wondering what turf types you have decided on other than artificial, I have a larger block on Park Street so it is important I make the right choice. From my preliminary research to date a turf variety called Plateau is my front runner. I would be interested in hearing what your thoughts are and any advice you might have. Regards, Rob Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 3091Feb 01, 2016 3:03 pm I have a landscaping meeting tomorrow and know nothing about turf.. Any information would be great. I will also do some googling today. Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 3092Feb 01, 2016 7:22 pm Hey guys, we went with Empire Zoysia lawn. We spent weeks researching lawns. Whatever you do don't get Kikuyu or Couch (pronounced cooch), lots of landscapers try to sell that as it is just cheap and very nasty. EZ is more expensive to get but doesn't require much watering as it has a deep root systems and has an extremely high resistance to insects and disease and competes out weeds with little maintenance and it's perfect for Perth as it withstands hot climates. Not alot of mowing either as it is slow growing. The other good grasses would be Buffalo, I hear. We went with EZ and look forward to lovely luscious green lawn! Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 3093Feb 02, 2016 12:54 am Hi jamie He will ask you what plan do you have for your front lawn. According to the council requirement we need to have a tree in front of ur house so you cannot change that. Second decide what you want to have at the front. Google a sample pic which u can show to the man tomrw. I will advice you to stay within the $5000 mark as it can be very expensive to get anything done by them. Get your plants, water reticulation, paving stone and grass done by them and you should be well within the budget. If you choose to get artificial turf layed at later stages you can always do that. So get the basic landscaping done and get it out of the way asap. Make sure you sign and initial the plan asap as there is 4-5 weeks time after you give them the signed copy. Hope this helps. Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 3095Feb 02, 2016 9:16 am Thanks! What tree are we going for out the front? Or do they decide that? We are thinking of just getting something very very simple for now. Grass, retic & some hedging and then doing the rest ourselves at a later date. Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 3096Feb 02, 2016 12:44 pm As we are a corner block, so we get two trees along the side, I think other blocks have to have a tree out the front. On our agreement they refer to is as Verge trees - Claret Ash (Fraximus raywoodi). They advise that this is a compulsory inclusion and may not be deleted or substituted. Make sure you get your full allowance worth, even if you are going simple. It's best to get the landscapers to do some good quality lawn and edging, maybe prepare a couple of garden beds just with mulch if nothing else, as this is more expensive to do later where as plants etc can always be bought later and are quite affordable. All the best! Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 3097Feb 02, 2016 10:17 pm Thank you! Did you mulch or grass down the side? He landscaper said that there is no way the landscaping voucher will cover lawn down the side, so looks like we will need to mulch a fairly large amount of it. Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 3098Feb 02, 2016 10:25 pm No worries! We went with mulch and ground covers down the side. We wouldn't get lawn as it's our responsibilty to maintain water etc haha so we went with mulch no fuss and easy to top up. Re: Avonlee Henley Brook Perth 3100Feb 02, 2016 11:00 pm Check out www.plants4perth.com.au and have a look at the ground covers/shrubs etc maybe go with something native as they are great for Perth's climate and thrive with little to no maintenance. You can suggest plants of your preference to the Landscaper and see if they can provide them for you. We chose dyed wood chips instead of a standard mulch as they are low maintenance and simple but they provide a stunning colour contrast avoids looking boring and too simple and they are more robust/ don't disintegrate as quickly as normal mulch. Again they are more expensive but then just limit your plant selection and they will be more cost effective in the long run as you wouldn't have to keep topping it up as often and you won't have to worry about it looking too plain. Hi, If you give a set of criteria as to what means 'good' to you, it'll give others prompts to respond. We considered Henley early on but there were two factors that… 1 10483 I am not sure whether Perth has its own way of doing things in regards to this. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 13082 1 11003 |
