Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 21, 2011 9:22 pm Hi all I have been fairly quiet on this forum, but have been lurking in the shadows. Just wanted to highlight the help and advice provided through this forum. Whether its learning from another's experience or just asking for advice, there is a lot of help in these pages. Today I had handover of my house in Banksia Grove. It's gone super fast after the slab was laid in August. A few dramas and communication breakdowns but overall its gone well. If anyone else is at completion now, you have been sympathy. We have found it quite stressful as the builder has been trying to wrap up before Christmas, which is great but the rush seems to sacrifice the quality of the workmanship. Handover at 4pm today, with the builder closing at noon tomorrow. I'm sure I will continue to lurk in here, picking up tips for flooring, splashbacks, paint and all that fun stuff. Re: Super fast build and Thank you to 'forumers' 11Dec 23, 2011 8:23 pm jasmin3 Today I had handover of my house in Banksia Grove. It's gone super fast after the slab was laid in August. Lucky you mate. Maybe we should have gone with the same builder as you. We're also building in Banksia Grove, and our slab also went down in August, but we're building with the Homebuyers Centre, and everything was going great up until about mid November, where it all just... stopped. We got so demoralised, we just stopped going up - we were going up weekly, but by the time we check in again on Boxing day, it'll have been just over three weeks. In any case, congratulations on getting in before Christmas, it does all look rather splendid. jasmin3 I've got the security alarm install tomorrow Just out of curiosity, but what alarm package did you go with, and (if you don't mind) how much did it cost? We're thinking of going with something monitored that you pay off over the course of a 24 or 36 month contract, because we really don't have the cash to drop $2k on a half-decent setup. Such a setup would have to go through Fuze Connect too though, and given their unreliability, that might actually prove to be a waste of money. Super fast build and Thank you to 'forumers' 12Dec 24, 2011 12:35 am Looks great and such a fast build, how exciting. Overall really happy with the house, the biggest problem we had was just their lack of communication. Still going with the painting but almost finished now. Really enjoying seeing it looking more like a house. Can't wait to get the flooring and blinds in. Hey everyone Not for me or anyone I know, just generally interested.
