Re: Our Sea-change Adventure - photo overload p12 242Jun 24, 2012 3:33 pm Just saying................ handover booked for 8am Tuesday morning Tilers have been there all weekend doing alfresco tiles & also sealing all the grout. Decided to pay someone to do it rather than kill ourselves trying to get everything done before we move in. Re: Our Sea-change Adventure - photo overload p12 247Jun 25, 2012 9:18 am Woot Woot!! one more sleep!! Re: Our Sea-change Adventure - photo overload p12 248Jun 25, 2012 6:33 pm Not sure there'll be much sleeping tonight. Did a walk through with our SS today. He has an eagle eye and had already spotted a few things we hadn't. Nothing major, just grout and paint touch-ups. Also the kitchen window seal was bumpy but is an easy fix (too long so he pulled it out and will re-fit and trim). We're having handover with the sales guy tomorrow at 8am but the painter will be finishing off during the day. We're ok with this as we aren't moving in until Thursday. Oh and 18 x250kw solar panels are now on our roof so hopefully AGL will be paying us from now on. Promise will take photos after the painter has gone tomorrow. But I now understand why and will be scoring them 5 stars as well. Agree with above - a builder that does a good job deserves future referrals, so I will keep them in mind. Do they build in Sydney? Re: Our Sea-change Adventure - photo overload p12 255Jun 26, 2012 3:51 pm Thank you everyone. Handover sort of went well although probably a bit of an anticlimax as we've spent so much time at the house in the last couple of weeks ( live 7 mins away). The plumber was there to install the dishwasher and the tiler was doing some extra work for us, finishing the alfresco tiling. Also the painter was supposed to finish up the touch-ups this morning but he's sick. So will definitely be done tomorrow early morning which is OK because we're not moving in until Thursday. Gift box of bubbly and lots of different boxes of chocolates, biscuits etc as a present from the builder - really good for my weight control, not. No pictures because there were too many people in the way - Salesman, SS, Construction Manager, Plumber, Tiler. Will get some tomorrow when hopefully they will all be gone. A bit cream crackered at the moment and sick of packing boxes so taking a break with a nice cup of tea Our Homebuilding Thread 17th Nov - 1st meeting with PJB architect 27th Feb - Signed contract 23rd Mar - Plans approved 3rd Apr - Slab laid 18th Apr - Roof On 10th May - Lock-up 26th June - Handover Re: Our Sea-change Adventure - photo overload p12 256Jun 26, 2012 3:55 pm Forgot to answer your question T. Our builder is PJ Burns but they only build on the Sunshine Coast so no use for Sydney I'm afraid. Will be checking for piccies tomorrow! Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43846 Re: Our Sea-change Adventure - photo overload p12 258Jun 26, 2012 7:27 pm Hooray!! Congratulations!!! Score on the box of goodies!! I'm curious did you give a gift to them? I know that a gift isn't necessary and obviously they did the job you paid them to do, but the experience seemed to be a great one and some people do give gifts to their builders. Hope you don't mind me asking. Re: Our Sea-change Adventure - photo overload p12 259Jun 26, 2012 7:31 pm Hi Greenfish, Yes we gave our SS a small gift because we felt he had really been the one who made the process so smooth for us. We asked the salesman what he liked to drink and on advice bought a very good bottle of Rum and also a box of chocolates. We also tipped the tiler's apprentice because he worked so hard over the weekend on extra tiling for us. We didn't do anything for the other trades - there were so many of them and they came and went quite quickly. Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43846 Hi, you've probably already resolved this, however, Commbank will probably pay the funds to you after you send evidence the work is done regardless the change in the quotes. 1 35769 5 10667 2 3018 |
