Great day yesterday - very simple, but that's what I wanted. The sea at Peregian Beach is incredible Got to make a decision on the fridge this weekend so that we can finalise the plan. Was looking at the very big Bosch French door one but decided it's too big for just the two of us and also too deep - it will dominate the kitchen. Love the layout and functions of some of the Samsung ones but just don't trust them as a manufacturer. Still deciding between Side By Side and Bottom Mount but definitely want (for the first time) chilled water & ice-maker. Have read all the relevant threads on here but none the wiser so off now to HN at Noosaville to look at them all again. Great news that the QLD State have extended their $10k Building Grant so the pressure is off to rush to contract by the end of the month. Still want to keep the pace up but now we will sign a contract only when the plan is perfect - nearly there but still not quite. Our Homebuilding Thread 17th Nov - 1st meeting with PJB architect 27th Feb - Signed contract 23rd Mar - Plans approved 3rd Apr - Slab laid 18th Apr - Roof On 10th May - Lock-up 26th June - Handover Re: Our Sea-change Adventure - House Plans 27Jan 14, 2012 12:29 pm ooow, get a bosch side by side with ice and water it makes its own ice,( you just need the plumber to rig a line from the water pipe to the back of the fridge...then you forget about it) and you can have crushed or cubed...and you put the glass up to the ONE cutout part (not 2 like some fridges) and press the button for your choice of ice (I like cubed..) and then another button for the water to come out, so no moving your glass and I LOVE IT best $2000 we spent ever on a fridge mitsubishie...or however you spell it, had an ice tray INSIDE the freezer...umm, helloo...if I want ice I want it now, not after opening some door, opeing the ice box and hoping there is ice in there.. scooping it out, and then shutting said ice box and then shutting the door and then putting my glass where the WATER ONLY cutout is...um NOOOOO too long and my freezer just got a blast of hot air, esp as my kids fart around scooping ice out and into 5 glasses... good luck with shopping. Re: Our Sea-change Adventure - House Plans 28Jan 14, 2012 4:01 pm Yes, it's my favourite except that it's so damn big and particularly it's crazily deep. So I think instead it will be the F&P French Door fridge. Did look at some Side By Sides but I'm such an old woman now that I can't have a fridge where I have to bend down so much. Re: Our Sea-change Adventure - House Plans 30Jan 14, 2012 6:01 pm Yeah I know, but every brand I look at has some negative reviews. Not going to commit yet, but will prob make fridge space 1.1m wide and high enough for lots of choice. Just worried about depth of fridge - I hate it when the doors stick out beyond the cavity. How deep do you reckon it needs to be to include the doors in the cavity (not the handles)? They put pretend laminate either side of the fridge once it is in Happy shopping!!!!! Re: Our Sea-change Adventure - House Plans 32Jan 16, 2012 8:54 am Hi, I think there is a thread about side by side fridges and lots of good reviews for the Samsung side by side - which persuaded us - like Kiwi I'm loving the choice of crushed or cubed ice and having cold water on tap ... we have the flap that opens at the front too which is great for keeping the gin and tonic handy ... oh and the milk! Re: Our Sea-change Adventure - House Plans 35Jan 18, 2012 8:28 am Off to our 4 hour colour selection appointment today. Also expecting to have updated plans and pricing. Had a "spit the dummy" moment over the weekend - turns out our rental has the exact same floor tiles as we chose; I tried all weekend to be positive about them but I just don't like them - they're boring and without the rectfied edges all I could see was years of grubby grout. So back to the tile place yesterday on my own and chose some much nicer (yes, and more expensive) ones with rectified edges so we can have 2mm of grout . Luckily hubby much prefers them as well so we'll find the money for them somewhere. Dreading where we are at with the budget - we've chosen some gorgeous but expensive bathroom stuff and most of the tiles are now above the standard range. Also added a niche feature here and a feature paint wall there - think we're in for a shock. But there are areas we can pull it back a bit if necessary so we'll see. Went really well but we didn't get to the external colours so back to that tomorrow. This is where we are up to: http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff435/RuthnPhil/P1040226.jpg This is the main floor tile; it's a Lapatto which is a semi-polished rectified porcelain. The main wall colours will be Dulux China White. The kitchen benchtop will be Essastone New Chinchilla with Wattyl "Purest White" gloss 2-pac cabinetry and brushed aluminium kickplates http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff435/RuthnPhil/P1040225.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff435/RuthnPhil/MTX_MOJOOVAL600.jpg http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff435/RuthnPhil/sus040511.jpg Ensuite - whitish tile has a textured wave through it with a bit of a gloss and will be wall & floor, the glitzy tile is almost irridecent and will be on the long shower wall and also 200mm above the vanity. Vanity will be a floating one - not too deep with Laminex Stipple Hemp Diamond Gloss benchtop and cabinet in Polytec Black Finegrain. Wall colours in Master &Ensuite are slightly different than rest of house - Wattyl Silkmoth as it's a better colour with the ensuite tiles. The basin we've chosen is the oval one from the Marblo Mojo range and the taps are from the Sussex Pol range. - Beautiful but may have to be sacrificed if the budget is a complete blow-out. http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff435/RuthnPhil/P1040223.jpg This will be in the bathroom and powder room with this tile on the shower wall and splashback and the bling (mosaic tile) in the shower niche and as a vertical strip on the bath hob. The floor will be the main tile carried through. Floating vanity in Laminex Ebony Macassar Diamond Gloss and Laminex Pumice Diamond Gloss benchtop. Can't afford the posh basins in here so going for simple tapless oval drop-ins with bench mounted taps - same taps as ensuite only the shorter ones. http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff435/RuthnPhil/P1040227.jpg This is the laundry - main tile with the cabinetry in Oyster Linea Silk Finish Laminex and Polytec Hemp Matt benchtop. Suki, our very involved and active Burmese knows this is "her" room (the litter tray lives in here) so she has already laid claim. http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff435/RuthnPhil/P1040222.jpg OK, back with more tomorrow once we've done the externals. Love the idea of posting the plans online - what a great way to get feedback ! Re: Our Sea-change Adventure - Tiles and cabinetry selection 38Jan 18, 2012 10:22 pm Hi Henderae, It's early days yet but so far we're really happy with our choice of builder. In particular I love how we have complete access to their in house architect and so have our own custom design. In fact he was around while we were doing our colour selections today and we made a couple more changes as we worked through things in detail. They seem to have a good reputation with all their suppliers and a reputation for having really good tradespeople who have worked for them for a long time. No sign of any bad reviews on-line just really positive feedback. Hope that helps. Only joking, that's just my paranoia setting in. No, I have absolutely no doubts about any of it, I'm really pleased with our choices. I've learnt to listen to my gut feel more - last week's tile choice was just wrong & I knew it, so I'm glad I made the changes, whereas I'm really pleased with everything we chose yesterday and didn't wake up worrying about any of it. Off to finish with the exterior colours this morning. Our Homebuilding Thread 17th Nov - 1st meeting with PJB architect 27th Feb - Signed contract 23rd Mar - Plans approved 3rd Apr - Slab laid 18th Apr - Roof On 10th May - Lock-up 26th June - Handover Been in a similar position and we decided to let the builder go. Some of the PSA money goes to engineering so we at least got those documents and they actually refunded us… 2 6082 Hi, you've probably already resolved this, however, Commbank will probably pay the funds to you after you send evidence the work is done regardless the change in the quotes. 1 35191 5 10423 |
