It's such a waste of money and space. That was the best we could do with all the restrictions without changing the layout too much! We will be building in Cockburn. Re: BUILDING WITH REDINK-First Home! 6Dec 19, 2011 5:01 pm Congrats on the new thread Geste! I also love the amount of storage you guys have.. Something you can never have enough of really. I like the long entry. A friend of mine had similiar and he had little niche type things built into the walls with downlights in them. He used them to display all of his trophies he had won over the years. It looked really nice walking in thru there. Like your own little Museum dedicated to yourself. Photos would also look nice I think. Where abouts in Cockburn are you?? Anywhere near me in Lake Coogee? Re: BUILDING WITH REDINK-First Home! 7Dec 19, 2011 5:51 pm we're building in lake clifton. RI were one of the few builders that do build here. We seem to be caught in some sort of 'black hole' some builders only come down as far as bouvard or dawseville. even if they do have a sw office, they dont come up as far as lake clifton. weird. BUILDING WITH REDINK-First Home! 9Dec 20, 2011 1:18 am Geste, Glad to u finally got your thread underway!! Couple of suggestions, as u have seen our plan, possibly have the double 180 hinge doors from ur retreat to bedroom, when they are open will make it look great, have the doors opening into the retreat tho, also not sure about your area and what ur family is like but don't know that your really want your bathroom window facing the street? If that guest room is being used as a study could u maybe move it across And move other bedrooms down and have bath/loo I between bed 2 &3? Also I'd have the door on the bathroom hung so it opens onto the shower, will be annoying at some point to be squished in the corner while ur trying to close it, and one more suggestion, have you thought about nib walls in both showers? That way u won't have the little gap between shower and vanity that just collects dust! Put me in my place if I am out of line!! Oh and one more thing, with sink on one end, oven on other and DW on other where will u fit all of your appliances? Maybe if u remove study and just have a comPuter nook where the bathroom is, move beds down, then have bath where I said before and laundry there too and change ur laundry to a scullery/walk in pantry? Leona, thanks for the suggestions.. yeah a little late to change.. But believe me I've actually tried moving the rooms around like you suggested...and there was always something or another, spaces don't fit properly or too much wastage of corridor.. we've moved things around so many times that I just got tired of it. The house was actually planned for another block (slightly bigger one) but we changed our mind about that original block and ended up with a smaller one. Then to top it all up, more changes were made because of guideline restrictions.. I'm sure we had at least 10 plan changes! Let's just say at this point.. I've had enough! Just want the house up and running! The frequent family visitors (aka parents) aren't fussed about the bath being near the entrance .. plus it'll have a privacy tint.. and blinds.. so no ones going to bother. The main user is a 2 year old.. so I don't think he has an opinion about it at this time!
