Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building Orchid 4200 with Burbank- Shopping :) 181May 28, 2012 2:42 pm Great shopping Getting the driveway done will be exciting. Did you get a dishwasher through BB? What is BB QA inspection exactly? Our minds are now set to what we need to organise after handover. We wont be able to do everything at once unless we went back to the bank Because the landscaping is a bit problematic we havent been sure what to budget for each thing. We are still waiting for concretors to come and quote for our paths. We only want plain concrete. I'm still super excited to just get in there already. I bet you are too! Re: Building Orchid 4200 with Burbank- Shopping :) 182May 28, 2012 2:59 pm We are getting excited as we see the end is near I got a dishwasher from Burbank part of the package. We did not upgrade (hope it will last a while before we get a decent one) BB QA Inspection - Burbank do their internal Quality Assurance checking the house - Paint, fittings etc..(Usually done by the construction manager / Checkpoint), They fix these issues before PCI. I will be doing my footpath as soon as I get my keys- Getting quotes for Exposed and Plain. Looking forward for the driveway 1. Organised House Insurance 2. Organised my final Progress payment (Bank will be doing the Valuation this week) Orchid 4200 with Burbank: Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53034 House Built in 7 Months and 2 weeks Re: Building Orchid 4200 with Burbank- Shopping :) 183May 28, 2012 3:10 pm Wow. Yeah a lot goes on last minute. You've organized well. I did an online quote for house insurance and I was shocked at how much it increased over the last 2-3 years. I like that BB do their own quality check, I didn't know that. Now I can sleep easier knowing they care about finishes and quality of their builds Which dishwasher did you get. We uograded to a Westinghouse. The one that came with our promotion was a dishlex. Re: Building Orchid 4200 with Burbank- Shopping :) 184May 28, 2012 4:15 pm We did not have much $$ to play with during colour appointment (My house was still in the market - So we played it safe) I am getting the dishlex. I will make sure I list all the major things (if any) on this thread after my PCI I did a few quotes for Insurance, it is not cheap Orchid 4200 with Burbank: Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53034 House Built in 7 Months and 2 weeks Re: Building Orchid 4200 with Burbank- Lintel Painted or not 185May 30, 2012 8:43 pm Last minute question before PCI: I have brick infills above my windows and doors, The Lintel that holds the bricks are not painted they look silver - I was hoping they will be painted the same colour as my Window / Door Frame - BLACK Should Burbank Paint the Lintels or not?? Let me know what you have done Orchid 4200 with Burbank: Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53034 House Built in 7 Months and 2 weeks Re: Building Orchid 4200 with Burbank- Lintel Painted or not 186May 31, 2012 7:16 pm Yep!, ours are painted the same colour as the window frames hubby, kids and me all waiting for the Amberlea Site Cut 27 September 2011 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46637 http://www.dscml.com/ Re: Building Orchid 4200 with Burbank- Lintel Painted or not 187May 31, 2012 8:23 pm I went to couple of Burbank displays in the west (Williams landing and pointcook) One of the houses had the lintels painted. I like the painted look. Unless it is painted with the correct paint (paint that stick to galvanized steel) paint may peel off after couple of years. I am going to try to push Burbank to paint it, based on the evidence. However if they don't I will buy the proper paint and paint later http://www.galvanizeit.org/images/uploa ... tsteel.pdf Orchid 4200 with Burbank: Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53034 House Built in 7 Months and 2 weeks Re: Building Orchid 4200 with Burbank- Lintel Painted or not 188May 31, 2012 8:31 pm You've paid good money to have bricks instead of cement sheet infills they should finish it properly. Burbank acknowledged they need to fix it, however it may take long so I do not have a handover date This may involve ripping the plaster, fixing the studs and doing the plaster / paint.. Weather was shocking so could not take pictures. I have around 20 issues in my PCI list - Mainly Paint tochups, Silicon & Grouting. Will update as soon as I get a date. Re: Building Orchid 4200 with Burbank- Waiting for Handover 199Jun 04, 2012 1:33 pm I red your thread and you know how frustrating it is when you have a communication breakdown with SS. The PCI started a bit formal and then it was smooth. We had a SS changeover and this wall has been missed - (I pointed this out during Frame Stage / Pre plaster inspection). Hopefully Burbank will fix it correctly. I am no planning to move in till the end of the month, however I have few trades lined up starting next week and took some time off work. 1. Wetbar Kitchen. 2. Footpath around the house 3. Sealing the tiles 4. Frosting couple of private windows (Kids toilet and bathroom) ***I am also looking for a tenant to take my tenancy from my rental property. I will be breaking my lease so I can move in to the new house before the end of June.
