Re: brick colour 3Dec 13, 2011 9:29 pm No I haven't. Windows black or timber? It will be very striking. Is the facade modern or traditional? Re: brick colour 4Dec 14, 2011 12:07 am Hi, I am just going through the process of deciding on brick/roof/render/windows, etc colours at the moment. I, like you, like the idea of having some contrast, instead of too much of a muchness happening. These are just my thoughts..... I would not have a black roof unless I'm building in an area that never gets any sun, so that it increases the chances of heat absorption and retention. Another reason I don't like a black roof (though related) is because they fade quickly and can look old very early. Near where I am building, one of my neighbours has a black roof. It looks as though it has a white, salty residue on it which also makes it look old and worn (we are about 12kms from the coast). The houses in my area are all less than 5 years old, so I don't think this is age! I like the dark front door. What about your gutters, fascia and downpipes? Re: brick colour 5Dec 16, 2011 8:36 am I wanted a contrast and i selected buff and black roof was suggested by the lady who was helping us with the colours..... facsia and pipes are paper bark and gutter is monument. Pavement is paperbark too.. I called austral brick to find out if they have any sample homes with buff brick and black garage door, entrance and roof. Hopefully they will find some houses and send me details to look at it.... Re: brick colour 7Dec 16, 2011 10:43 am I agree with a black roof. I love my black roof! If not black, go a dark charcoal. And as for the black garage door etc, why not go with Monument. We have a black roof, and gutters, facia, garage door and front door are all monument and I love it. Although we have homestead tan bricks. Monument would be better with light coloured bricks like homestead mushroom. Im byest though because they were our second chioce if tan fell thru.lol But I understand why black was suggested to you because of the black specks thru the brick. Maybe try colourbond Jasper??? It's so hard isnt it!...... 2 8364 I should have followed up on this thread. So, the pier foundation wasn't large enough on the side it was leaning towards, and the NBN cable went through the pier, just… 8 12130 Just be careful with building stability during construction, that is when the structure may be weakened, refer to your engineering drawings for stability methodology. 1 7231 |
