Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 14, 2008 3:24 pm Hi all,
would any of you happen to have this color tile on your roof? it wouldnt matter if its a different profile. If so, I would love to see a photo of how it looks "on masse" , this would help me greatly in decision making! cheers, Jo Re: Boral concrete tile - Blue Dusk (striata profile) 2Feb 14, 2008 3:40 pm Hi Zonk
If you can wait until sometime next week (hopefully) I will have photo's to show you. We are using that colour and profile. Tiles have been delivered but we are waiting for the roof trusses to be finished. I can certainly wait, our frame isnt up yet! looking forward to seeing your roof, so , what are you planning re bricks, fascia, downpipes? I am nearly set on those tiles, but am looking forward to input with the rest of the exterior colors. the tile color seems to determine the following colours on the exterior (to a degree) can you tell I am new at this? Re: Boral concrete tile - Blue Dusk (striata profile) 4Feb 14, 2008 9:08 pm Quote: can you tell I am new at this? that makes 2 of us. I am still a little unsure if our colour selections are going to work but hubby thinks they will and he usually gets that sort of thing right (don't tell him I said that) HAven't posted them on here yet as I am scared what people may think but its too late to change them now so here goes: Roof - Boral Striata - Blue Dusk Render, Beams, Posts - Bristol - Colonial Feature Render - Bristol - Black Jack Eaves, Portico & Alfresco Ceiling - Bristol - Canvas Cloth Facia, Gutter, Downpipes, Rainwater Tank & Garage Door - Dune Windows /Sliding Doors- Metro Silver BiFold & Front Door & Sidelight - Sikkens Dark Oak I think that is everything for the outside. will still be a while before we see it all come together. Good Luck with your choices. Sadly no not yet, maybe tomorrow. The carpenters look to have finally finished this afternoon and my windows are in. Will load photos the minute we have a roof Anne Grandview 36 on Beautiful Bribie Site Start Dec 5th 2007 Projected completion May 12th 2008 NOPE Handover 24th June 2008 Moved in 11th July 2008 Wating on one final thing - Still - Oct 2009 Re: Boral concrete tile - Blue Dusk (striata profile) 7Feb 21, 2008 8:42 pm since we are owner builders, the roof colour is the only thing I think i have a firm decision about!
no colour consultant for me, unfortunately but I do have a very general idea of how the colours will be the house will be fully rendered, but the first thing I have to choose, colouring wise are the fascia and guttering...I am kinda liking dune at the moment. I am aiming for a neutral type facade with a dark roof. windows are another issue! we are in a well established area so I dont want it to look like a typical display home with the horizontal windows, multi coloured rendering, stone cladding etc we would just not fit in can anyone read my mind and post facade that depicts what I am thinking? color only of course, I have finally bought a scanner and once I reduce my plans to A4 I will post them cheers, Jo Re: Boral concrete tile - Blue Dusk (striata profile) 8Feb 29, 2008 5:55 pm Hi Zonk
Before you ask no there is no photo's to show you yet. The roof hasn't even been started yet. The tilers have turned up twice but refuse to start as they say the roof isn't ready for the tiles but my SS says it is? Waiting on a return phone call yet again from SS. I got a little bit enthusiastic when I saw your post. not to worry, your roof will still be up way before mine I dont have to deal with SS as we are owner builders SS is my DH we are still not ready for tiles (maybe 3-4 weeks) but I have 3 quotes for roof already (one not suprisingly 6k above the other comparitable quotes) warm regards, Jo Re: Boral concrete tile - Blue Dusk (striata profile) 10Mar 02, 2008 11:08 pm thanks Jo
you will be the first to see the photo's once they go on We considered the owner builder option, but would have had to have waited another 3.5years as we had a owner builder permit for a major reno we did a couple of years back and you can only get one every 6 years in QLD. When I was picking my boys up from school the other day I noticed a roof being done at Pacific Harbour, they had 10 guys on the roof laying tiles. I have this feeling it was done in a day and it was a big roof. I can only wish this would happen for us Good Luck to you Anne Grandview 36 on Beautiful Bribie Site Start Dec 5th 2007 Projected completion May 12th 2008 NOPE Handover 24th June 2008 Moved in 11th July 2008 Wating on one final thing - Still - Oct 2009 Re: Boral concrete tile - Blue Dusk (striata profile) 11Mar 11, 2008 9:47 pm Hi Jo
Photo's as promised not a blue as I thought it would be, which is not a bad thing considering our neighbour has a bue colourbond roof. But it looks good! And a nice neat roofline also Anne! The roofline wasn't something we were hugely fussed in spending big $ on apart from upgrading the tiles. We worked on the fact that as long as it had enough street appeal to get people inside when we want to sell then we would rather spend the money inside the house. This roof design also gave us alot of rooof space which will be really helpful when DH (sparky) gets in the roof to do his stuff. Alot of the house he can walk around upright instead of crawling Anne Grandview 36 on Beautiful Bribie Site Start Dec 5th 2007 Projected completion May 12th 2008 NOPE Handover 24th June 2008 Moved in 11th July 2008 Wating on one final thing - Still - Oct 2009 Re: Boral concrete tile - Blue Dusk (striata profile) 14Mar 12, 2008 1:34 pm thankyou.
It doesnt look blue at all does it? maybe if the sun was out the color would be a bit different? anyway, now I can show my DH, I think the profile looks really nice. Jo I’m just in the process of replacing 2 stud walls that have been severely damaged by termites and am planning to use h2 blue pine. I just wanted to if anyone can advise… 0 52849 Looking for advice on whether this variation in tile colour is acceptable.
