Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 12, 2011 2:49 pm Hi Guys just recieved a letter after settling on our land in a new estate on november 4th 2011. They want us to pay a futher $315.02 as they have re evaluated our land and believe we didnt pay enough in rates when we took over the land at settlement. Has anyone had this happen to them before, should we just cop it on the chin? Ive never paid rates in my life as this is our first home and have no idea how it all works. Cheers http://lindeman28.blogspot.com - Our building blog Re: Supplementary rate notice - new land 2Dec 12, 2011 4:06 pm It depends whether they are saying that they made a miscalculation and there is still that amount owing or whether they have had a new valuation done. If they've done a new valuation I'm surprised that they are allowed to pass that on as most council valuations are effective from the new rates year. I'd ring your conveyancer or Solicitor and ask them Re: Supplementary rate notice - new land 3Dec 13, 2011 2:33 pm spoke to our conveyencer not very helpful. Council also said they are in there right to do it. May aswell just pay the 300 bux to save the drama http://lindeman28.blogspot.com - Our building blog Re: Supplementary rate notice - new land 4Dec 13, 2011 2:38 pm ... money grabbers ....
