Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 04, 2011 6:15 am Hi, We have just moved into a newly built house. There is a noise in the ceiling when we turn on and off the water tap. What could be wrong with it? I suspect the builder may have cut corner and not done something but not sure what. Possible solutions are Turning the water stop tap down a bit outside the house can help. also is you have lever mixers shut the water off a bit slower. More clips holding down pipes. Re: Noise in the ceiling when turning on and off the water t 4Jan 24, 2012 8:19 am I had plumber came over twice to put down some clips, it helps but can hear the noise. I was advised by the plumber that no water hammer arrester/air vent/air trap was installed. My question = are these required by the plumbing code or any other codes? Can a plumber put a tap on a rain water tank which is full? Tank is similar to one in photo. Cheers. 0 1668 Nope, only on the inside, I've literally has my ears to the brick outside and can't hear anything. I can sort of 'reset' the noise by pressing firmly on the studs.
