Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 29, 2011 7:05 am Hi All, I have recently purchased a old tennis court and have just completed a soil test. The result have come back inconclusive, they have dug 8m and have still not hit hard dirt. However my neighbour had to drill down 10m so the geotester believes @ 12m they would hit hard dirt they also recommend that I would need approx 42 screw piles 12m deep to build a double story home. Has anybody done this before or heard of this? Iām budgeting about 50-70k for site costs, does that sound reasonable? As the site is so bad would these piles be enough to hold the house together over the long run? Other alternative is to remove the dirt and do a basement, not sure which would be cheaper. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks 2 5503 I am not sure whether Perth has its own way of doing things in regards to this. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 13103 |
