Looks great, and so excited for you both. It is going to be a lovely home, well done Yes, but you had a few other very good ideas and your help in coming up with the plans was much appreciated. Finally some more action on site today. They have started to dig the trenches for the slab! They were still going at 5.30pm when I drove past. Will go for a walk tomorrow morning to have a closer look. Looks like there will be a slab going down sometime next week! Then last Friday the surveyors came out to measure out and dig the trenches. They were there all day Friday and most of Saturday. After a couple of rest days on Sunday and Monday the plumbers came to put down the pipes for the drains. Having the trenches and now the pipes there gives the site a whole different dimension. It makes it much easier to work out where everything will be. Oh yeah and we also got a sign and a toilet on site now! Re: IMJAS' House in SA - We have a toilet! 26Dec 07, 2011 10:23 am Mclaren Oh it's a beautiful sight isn't it? You'll be so glad to see it gone though .. Yes, that will be even better when its gone again. But for now I am just happy that it is there, because it means that there will be some construction happening! I am starting to wonder though if all the tradies/builders that come to site are pigs that just dump all their rubbish wherever they go and stand. The amount of rubbish left behind by them all over the block, building related and from lunch or smoke breaks is extraordinary. I'm thinking if I wanted my house build on a rubbish dump, then I would have bought one! Would have been a lot cheaper as well me thinks. Is that normal or did we just get the bad ones? On the plus side, they leave behind their empty drink containers as well. At 10c per bottle/can, I might have found a way to refinance the build as by the end of it I will have collected a lot of them. The amount of rubbish left behind by them all over the block, building related and from lunch or smoke breaks is extraordinary. I'm thinking if I wanted my house build on a rubbish dump, then I would have bought one! Would have been a lot cheaper as well me thinks. Is that normal or did we just get the bad ones? quote] I go over to our site every weekend and clean everything up. Two bits of rubbish on the ground constitutes a rubbish pile and more things follow leading to lots of small piles everywhere. There seem to be less piles since I started cleaning up. Slab Down: 2/6/11 Moved in 13/3/2012 Current Status : Waiting for the garden to grow. My build thread : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=47031 Re: IMJAS' House in SA - We have a toilet! 31Dec 08, 2011 12:46 pm We don't have a skip so we have piles on 3 sides of the house! The building rubbish doesn't bother me, its the other junk! They are such pigs, food scraps everywhere! And DS 20 months is always picking up cigarette butts. I filled a garbage bag just with food related rubbish and left it there, along with some spare bags. They haven't taken the hint though!! Although I think it was the framers who were the grins and they have finished now. Congrats on pipes!! Re: IMJAS' House in SA - We have a toilet! 32Dec 08, 2011 9:08 pm Looks like it is everywhere the same with the rubbish then. I don't mind the building related rubbish so much, although I'm sure they could do a better job with cleaning up and not dumping it everywhere. I suppose that comes with the business. But I really hate the disregard that many people have for others and the environment by just dumping their rubbish everywhere. And that is not only on building sites. Why do wrappers, plastic bags, cans, bottles and the like just end up on the ground? I really don't think our future neighbors enjoy having rubbish blown into their garden. If you were able to carry them in your bag when they were full and heavy, surely you can take the empty, light packaging home with you to put it in the bin? It's not that hard! Looks like I'll have to do a regular cleanup around the place. *rant over* Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=52680 SiteStart 19/11/11 Slab 10/12/11 Frame 17/02/12 Roof 3/05/12 LockUp 22/06/12 Handover 31/08/12 Re: IMJAS' House in SA - We have a toilet! 33Dec 08, 2011 9:45 pm Thailan so excited to see your build start. Our slab went down on 21 nov (but you will be finished months before mine) and the amount of rubbish left behind was gross, my youngest 16 months found that many smoke buts and the empty drink bottles -am sure they just opened their car door and let all the rubbish fall out then drive off.
