Thanks! Hi Deemaree, welcome. Better late than never. Thanks for the cartwheels. build2012 your slab is MASSIVE! Exciting times!! Hopefully they start the frames before Xmas. That would be very cool! Well, it's about 310m² and one of the guys told us there were 11 and a bit truckloads of concrete in there - about 80m³! So I guess it is pretty big. However, I still can't get my head around the dimensions of everything. I know where all the rooms will be, and somehow it all looks a bit smaller than it should be. I guess having the frames on there will help. According to our SS the frames will be delivered TOMORROW, windows on Wednesday and he said that we will have a frame before X-mas! After the frame is up though we will have to wait until after the X-mas break. But we are very happy that things are happening so quickly now. Just a few weeks ago I was starting to doubt if we would even have site start this year. No frames to be seen anywhere yet. I guess they want to give the slab a bit more time to cure, which isn't a bad thing. They didn't waste any time sending the bill though. Slab poured on Saturday, bill sent on Monday! Maybe they've run out of steel? https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43937&start=0 Bought a block in Golden Grove - Jan 2011 Finally finished our design, Mar 2012, *yay* Signed with ADH council consent June 12 Re: IMJAS' House in SA - It's a slabulous day! 49Dec 14, 2011 9:48 am dreamcometrue the split going up at GG has had half a frame for two weeks I reckon. Maybe they've run out of steel? that could be it! Hopefully they will find some by mid-January!!! Seriously, I actually don't care all that much if they put up the frame before X-mas or not. I really wanted a slab and I got that, so I am happy about that for now. I actually think that they had some delays last week before pouring the slab (one very, very hot day, one rainy day) and therefore had to push things back a bit to give the slab sufficient time to cure. According to my spy, there is some earthworks happening on the block today where they are flattening out the soil behind the slab at the back of the block. So we'll see what happens. It's certainly exciting and intriguing to see what happens next (or not). But that's OK, at least we got a start still this year and there is a nice big slab to admire. Hopefully the break will not be too long and the builder will come back with fresh energy and enthusiasm. We have bought our first big item for the new house. A nice outdoor setting to put on the verandah: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We will already be able to use it in our old house and it will also help to make it look nicer for the open inspections next year. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone. I hope it will be a good year for us all and we will get our beautiful houses build and finished with minimum dramas. What about selling our existing house, a new baby, major surgery for our daughter and our daughter starting school full time! Think we might be in for some dramas somewhere along the way! Well, I was WISHING for minimum dramas not expecting them. And at least on the building side it would be nice to get things done with the least amount of problems possible. Deemaree Ummmm...new baby???? Congrats! Good luck with the rest though... Yes, #3 is on the way. Have to fill up those bedrooms somehow. If the builder hurries up, it might be a race between the baby and the house. But I don't think the house will stand a chance. Baby is expected mid April - for the house June might be more realistic. DD1 will need a Salter Osteotomy - hip surgery to correct problems stemming from a hip dysplasia which was detected when she was 7 months old (she is no 4y8m). She had surgery then and spent a few weeks in a hip spica cast and some months in a brace. While it did help somewhat, it wasn't enough unfortunately. So she will have to have another surgery and another 6 weeks in a cast. We are hoping we can get through all of that before she starts school in April. Thank you. I'm sure she will be fine and probably cope much better with it than her parents. Deemaree One of our DD's is due with her first baby mid April as well! The other DD is due with her first mid July-so our brood of grandchildren will grow to 5! Congratulations, that will keep you busy I'm sure. And I read on your thread that the last of your children has left the nest, so that means plenty of room and time for looking after the grandchildren. Not sure what they are waiting for. Maybe it is too hot for them? Does anyone know if there is a "heat rule" that says that steel frames can't be put up if it is too hot? I have seen that some of the other ADH houses in the area have recommenced construction after the X-mas break. But they had their frames put up before X-mas and are up to bricking now. I've contacted them and asked what's going on but haven't heard back yet. Pugs Nice site and awesome plans.. feel free to contact m if you need a quote for anything Thank you Pugs.
