Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 20, 2011 8:31 pm My builder, wisdom homes, is charging me ~10k in additional stormwater work. This is in addition to their package stormwater inclusions which according to many builders is about another 10k. I have a rainwater easement at the back of the plot. The plot is sloping backwards to the council rainwater easement. Do we still need all these? Can anyone please help with identifying if any of these are necessary? Anyone with experience in this area, can you please explain what dissipator and arrestor pit are? I have googled and have some vague ideas. Would like more details before I approach the builder and demand an explanation. Also, can I get my hydraulics works done independently? How much do you reckon it will cost me? Provide Extra Over Standard Stormwater Allowance:- • Supply & install concrete head wall • Full construction of dissipator • Supply & install 450mm silt arrestor pit • Install full 100mm stormwater system including to non charged downpipes • Install 150mm stormwater line from grated drain to dissipator • Provide 2No. additional Down Pipes • Inspection Fee • Provide additional inlet to tank Re: Huge hydraulics work charges 2Nov 20, 2011 8:43 pm The normal atormwater allowance is basically for getting the water from the down pipes to a junction point in a pipeline. By the sound of your list you will be discharging to a watercourse which means that the dissipator is needed to stop erosion and the silt arrestor to avoid solids being deposited in the watercouse. I don't think you could save much money by doing it independantly and its likely to delay things The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Huge hydraulics work charges 4Nov 20, 2011 9:10 pm There is a photo at the bottom of this page http://www.precastwang.com.au/rural.htm The headwall is installed at the end of the last pipe so the water flows onto the concrete floor amd then spills out into the watercourse.
