Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 16, 2011 5:23 pm Hi guys, I posted on here last year about planning a country build. Well, there's been some movement in the past few weeks. My wife-to-be and I have a block, which was purchased in May. It is six metres shorter than what we wanted, but there will be plenty of backyard space. During the past two weeks we have started the ball rolling - very slowly - with the house selection. We are going for the Brookdale 241 from DFH. So far we have been very pleased with the process. The estimate was e-mailed when we were told it would, and a hard copy has arrived in the mail this week. We've also received our colour pack too. The more information or experiences you guys have had in the early stages that can be passed on, the better. As of Saturday the contract process started. At this stage it looks as though we will be in our new home in mid-September 2012. However, before then there's Christmas, the colour session and something that may be critical - a wedding next month. We now have a colour appointment - three days after we get back from the honeymoon. I hope we are prepared for the date. Anyone here have a house with fawn/tan bricks? If so, how do they turn out? We are considering the fawn from the Austral Brick range. Our contract was signed at the end of March, and all we are waiting for now is the building permit to be approved. At this stage the build should start at the end of the month. One question though, on average how long does it take for a house to be completed? Re: First home project - DFH Brookdale 6Apr 18, 2012 11:50 am I thought it was that. The number of days outlined is 210, but a number of my friends have said it should take less, depending on the weather (fingers crossed).
