Nice one. Build Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=57639 Re: New build @ Mitchelton (QLD) Bamboo floor installed (pic 124Dec 13, 2012 7:49 pm Floor guy was amazing - essentially knocked out 80m2+ in a day. Pictures from the mobile don't do it justice - will replace them in this post with new ones on the weekend. Have to say we are absolutely stoked with how it looks - should look even better once it's been cleaned. So much fun to walk on!
Guy has to come back tomorrow to finish the edging and clean. Highly recommend the suppliers and installers to all. Re: New build @ Mitchelton (QLD) Bamboo floors installed (pi 125Dec 13, 2012 8:01 pm We had timber floors installed at our place and it was the best choice. so cumfy under your feet and looks a million bucks. You will love it. And Bamboo is so hardwearing/ Great choice/ Re: New build @ Mitchelton (QLD) Bamboo floors installed (pi 126Dec 13, 2012 8:06 pm Looks like a great job He must have been a machine! Percy the Possum! Little fella wasn't too impressed with being waken up either. Started making this sound like a Tasmanian devil on heat. Ended up poking it with the broom and ushering it out into the backyard - hopefully now that the house is fully locked up he won't get back in! Hive of activity this morning. Tilers finished in the bathrooms and the security screen guys came and installed the screens and vertical blinds. Security grills have gone on - just in time for the Xmas shutdown. Our Cedar feature post has also been put in too! My media room now has less holes in it. Have installed the points for the 9.2 sound system. Now the electrician has to do his thing. Powder room Bathroom Shower Electrician should finish his fit off this week as well as the plumber. Hoping to have carpet also. Should be full steam ahead for the new year! Your bathrooms are something else, excellent choice on the tiles. I think my builder has started his xmas break early, in the last 2 weeks all they've done is hang the internal doors and started a bit of shelving. Build Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=57639 Re: New build @ Mitchelton (QLD) An uninvited guest 131Dec 16, 2012 3:14 pm As much as we don't begrudge the builders their holiday like the rest of us, it's annoying isn't it!! Re: New build @ Mitchelton (QLD) Electrical fitout started 132Dec 21, 2012 8:48 am Tell me about it!! Fortunately the tradies are working up until today on our place and will start back on the 7th - so not much downtime for us. House is about 90% finished now - carpets went in on Monday. Been so long since we first choose it - I have fallen in love with it all over again!! Electrician has also started his fit out, so I have been able to see what my super expensive Clipsal Saturn switches look like. Have to say I am extremely pleased with the result - they will look even more awesome once the power is connected up and that blue glow radiates! Loving our pendants and spotlight. Splashback will make a world of difference! My Saturn Switches - xoxxo So what's next? * Shower screens/splashbacks should go in from 7th January. * Stair glass balaustrade installed from 7th January * Finalise the networking - only got 11 of the 21 points wired so far. * I have officially booked in our our 5.75kw solar system to be installed by Keen2BGreen on the 17th January. * Meeting with the actual builder (not the site supervisor) to discuss the landscaping and the pool and to give the completion ultimatum for the end of February. Will post updated pics of the carpet and bathrooms on Sunday! Re: New build @ Mitchelton (QLD) Electrical fitout started 133Dec 21, 2012 9:33 am Looking great mate, pendants very nice, I'm still yet to find ones I like for my kitchen. Tradies back on the 7th, you must be stoked about that, you'll be done before end of Jan at this rate. Good to see your solar going in, I havnt organised anything yet but Keen2BGreen are probably no 1. on my list too. I might hold off until March when the final report of QCA report on solar comes in just on the off chance they do something silly with the 44c FIT and make a large system uneconomical, otherwise I'll probably go 5+KW too. Will be great to see your splashback in, do you know how much it's costing you per sqm? I have an allowance in my contract but not sure what the total cost will be yet. Painters are busy at my place today so hopefully they can get most of the inside done and I can take some pics this arvo. Not likely - so much landscaping to be done. I've got a big rendered block wall to go in the front yard, with the gated intercom to be installed. Slabs for the alfresco and pool need to be poured and tiled. Pool itself needs to have the featured rendered and the glass/pebblecrete poured. Then the laying of turf. Mid February would be nice! plucka on the off chance they do something silly with the 44c FIT and make a large system uneconomical, Even if it is, I'll just shift my usage so that it runs during the day - run the pool pump during the day, set my aircon so that it automatically turns on and cools the house from 3pm to 5pm so that I get home it's already cooled down. Delayed start for the washing machine/dishwasher. In winter I'll probably even use the dryer more. That being said, if the 44c FIT stays, I'll be an electricity scrooge so the payback on the system is the 4 years I've calculated! Solar for us will be a long term investment - electricity prices are only going to go up anyhow. plucka Will be great to see your splashback in, do you know how much it's costing you per sqm? Not per sqm. The kitchen was included as part of the original house quote. Glass splashback for the bar and pantry was done as a variation $759 and $484 respectively Re: New build @ Mitchelton (QLD) Electrical fitout started 135Dec 21, 2012 10:09 am Loving those floors!! Just spoke to my SS who is hoping for end of Feb finish. No landscaping apart from the driveway so will be doing it all myself. Will have 4 retaining walls to build which will keep me busy- luckily I am having 3 months off long service leave when house is ready I agree with you about the solar, I thinks it's unlikely the 44c FIT will go or change much (there would be hell on the streets if that happened), although with this government anything is possible so thought waiting till March is prudent, won't be moving in until at least then anyway. It wasn't cheap though - inital quote was $6000 for the whole house. Reigned that in a bit by putting normal points behind Tvs and in places where it wouldn't matter I am still waiting for the electrician to connect the power so I can the blue LED in action. I've got a lovely dead possum story to share - will do so when I've got a bit more time.... Re: New build @ Mitchelton (QLD) Electrical fitout started 140Jan 02, 2013 4:40 pm thanks atom ute. did the lovely possum die? our builder let me purchase our saturn ourselves he said it would save us money and i think we have. doing the same as you if we cannot see it normal switches and points The last home I lived in didn't have a pool and when i went to sell it the agents were not happy, even telling me to put one in to sell the place.
