Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Re: Re: New build @ Mitchelton (QLD) PCI tomorrow 181Apr 10, 2013 2:11 pm Well it has finally arrived - we have our PCI with the builder tomorrow morning at 8am. 328 days after the block was first cut - will be very exciting to come to such a milestone in this exhausting journey. Even though PCI is tomorrow, we met with the SS this morning to go through a few landscaping details, and were able to get him onto a few things which should hopefully be sorted out tomorrow. Was a hive of activity - about 15 tradies on site doing various things and the cleaner had arrived to prepare the house for inspection. Looking at it it seems like they have so much to do in the next 14 days - but thinking about it, it really is just some tiling, turfing and some patching/painting in the inside. Big ticket item is the pool - hopefully the weather will fine up so we can get some progress. Will update the thread with PCI pictures tomorrow afternoon and report back any issues we encounter. Re: New build @ Mitchelton (QLD) PCI tomorrow 182Apr 10, 2013 2:39 pm congrats on pci hope the weather stays clear for you so the pool can be installed we are hoping to have our pool installed monday (it has been delayed three times already) so clear weather for us all Re: New build @ Mitchelton (QLD) PCI tomorrow 184Apr 10, 2013 4:00 pm travisaus Are you going pebblecrete or tiled for the pool? Although I would love to tile, I found it very difficult to justify the cost for something that is obscured under water. We have instead gone with a pebblecrete hybrid that consists of a render mixed with a geo-polymer resin and glass crystals. Because of this it greatly reduces the natural abrasiveness of the traditional pebblecrete finish. I wanted 'glow in the dark' crystals - but couldn't get sign off from the wife Re: New build @ Mitchelton (QLD) PCI tomorrow 186Apr 11, 2013 1:37 pm Travisaus - Nice advice, however I would like to live to see my next birthday Well PCI occurred this morning and went smoothly - no major defects found, although the place does have a case of the 'chicken pox' with all the paint touch ups. Hive of activity once again - chippies were installing the outdoor stairs, tiler was tiling the pool coping (and we decided this morning to tile 300mm below the waterline). Water tanks are being plumbed in tomorrow, and the bamboo flooring is also being replaced where the plumber didn't connect the waste properly (and subsequently cause the floor to warp). So handover is expected next Friday - we'll see. I think more likely Monday/Tuesday the week following. The house looks amazing love the floors we just finalised our timber the other day. PCI is April 26th for us. If not who did them? Hey Millsy, WIR was organised through the cabinet makers who also did the kitchen and the bar. Imperial Kitchens out at Meadowbrook - highly recommend them. Re: New build @ Mitchelton (QLD) PCI photos 191Apr 15, 2013 10:53 am Looks fantastic, atom_ute! It's always nice to see local Brisbane builds on the forum. I'm looking forward to seeing your outdoor area completed, too! (As I'm sure you are.) Hopefully handover does happen next week - good luck! Handover was meant to be today - we didn't think they'd meet it and guess what didn't happen. Hopefully it will stop raining in Brisbane! Just need the pool to be finished and the turfing. We are being really thorough with everything though - builder knows that he is not getting a cent until everything is completed. We are happy not to move until that is the case, and fortunately are in the position to be able to demand so. Re: New build @ Mitchelton (QLD) Front fence 195Apr 20, 2013 7:28 pm Couple of photos of the front fence Builders stuck on the house numbers without checking - ugly!! Inside the courtyard - nice big gate (connected to intercom) View from the pool - fencing has been installed Side stairs See how we go for handover this week - a lot to do still.... Re: New build @ Mitchelton (QLD) Bamboo floor installed (pic 197May 06, 2013 10:27 pm atom_ute Have to say we are absolutely stoked with how it looks - should look even better once it's been cleaned. So much fun to walk on! Hey Atom, We are doing Bamboo also, is your flooring the 'Coffee' Bamboo ?? Looks awesome and what we were contemplating albeit Sales Rep is 'suggesting' a lighter colour of sorts will do wonders. I think your pictures have confirmed our original thoughts !!! Actually looks warm yet a refreshing lightness to it when under lighting as you show lit up in your open plan kitchen area !! How did all the wiring and data cabling go with the Hm Theatre setup, just trying to list all the wall plates we are going to need for speakers, power, ethernet etc.....doing Mr M head in. Looks awesome Hi Miss Mia - thanks so much for the kind words. Yes the colour of the flooring is coffee. I guess it all depends on your colour palette, but we preferred it over 'natural'. We had originally ordered a 'gloss', but the supplier was out of stock for the next 3 months, so we ended up with a 'satin' finish. Glad we did - I think the gloss would have been too much upkeep and shown dirt/dust. 1rocky wow house is amazing congrats Thanks 1rocky - Meeting with the SS this morning - handover is tomorrow Re: New build @ Mitchelton (QLD) Front Fence 200May 08, 2013 11:31 pm atom_ute Miss Mia is your flooring the 'Coffee' Bamboo ?? We have not found that Coffee style in SA, the version we came across is a consistent colour throughout unlike yours which seems to bring out more character. Yours looks like the 'Australiana' Bamboo which has multiple tones http://www.premiumfloors.com.au/bamboo/ ... straliana/ And now we have to consider Gloss Vs Satin, suppliers have not even bought that up with us in conversation Great to see yours laid out, confirms we are making the right choice indeed.
