Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 14, 2011 10:37 pm Hi all We are just about to finish our build and I have started looking at getting fencing done. Back then (when I was not thinking), I moved the house from being 'garage on boundary' to a bit on left so I could have more room at the area behind the garage. Now I am left with 150mm between garage and boundary and was wondering whether I should get that 6m of the garage wall fenced. Having mixed thoughts at the moment. If I get the fence along the garage wall, I might probably be building a home for spiders and all sorts of waste. If I dont build the fence there, I might be losing part of my land, but saving a bit by having no fence there Anyone had similar issue before? Any thoughts?? Cheers Re: 150mm between garage and boundary 2Nov 14, 2011 10:45 pm Got an 80m gap from boundary to garage. Neighbours put up the fence that runs from rear of block to rear of their garage, which is on boundary, and then from front of garage to front of block. Putting up a fence pole at both ends of my garage to block access. 150mm between garage and boundary 4Nov 15, 2011 6:34 pm I have 150 mm gap between fence and garage. No issue. Re: 150mm between garage and boundary 5Nov 15, 2011 9:47 pm Wonder whether it would become an issue when selling the house?? @Eve Dweller, if you dont mind, could you post some pics of the fence around that area?? I went onsite today to do some measurements, 150mm seemed a bit when measured, but cannot imagine how it would be with a fence. Thanks Re: 150mm between garage and boundary 7Nov 15, 2011 10:14 pm had the same problem but it was my neighbour who had the gap... we built ours on the boundary off 50mm which is basically the width of the fence. They had 200mm from memory. They initially had the last section on both side of the garage angled to be mounted on their garage wall... Now two problems... not our land and gave us the problem with he gap. Oh and not on the boundary as we had agreed. We didn't say anything at the time after the fence went up thinking it was a temporary thing that when we finished building that it will be mounted on our wall. Anyway, several arguements later, to his credit, he sorted it out with the fenceman to be done correctly which was to create a return to close the gap on both ends. It saved both of us 6M worth of fence cost. It's something you have to discuss with your neighbour if they are building their garage there to on the boundary. It doesn't make sense to have a fence which we don't benefit cause it sits between a wall and can't be maintained. what you could do with the gap is to put a black tarrp so no weed can grow and put rubble and stones over it. This will sort out weeds and annually or every 6 montha spray outdoor instect bug spray to stop pests and that's all you have to do. Hope that helps. Re: 150mm between garage and boundary 8Nov 18, 2011 9:31 pm Thanks duke. Fortunately, we dont have a neighbor on our left yet (where our garage wall is) plus the crossover for our neighbor's plot is on the other side (not close to my crossover). So I assume this wont be an issue unless Mr. Neighbor decides to pay extra to get the crossover location changed. The Lot is still with developer, has not been sold yet. Re: 150mm between garage and boundary 9Dec 14, 2011 6:12 pm Hi all, I wanted to share this with you and your opinion will greatly appreciated. We haven't moved yet but everything with the house is all done. From our garage wall, there is still 200mm left. Our neighbor have started the concreting on their garage entry ramp and we were surprised to see that they have extended it and attached it to our garage wall without our consent. I have called the owner to discuss and explain that we prefer to stick with the boundary. They also assumed that our wall garage wall will be used as a divider instead of installing the fence in between. They said that what are we going to do with the 200mm left, then she started yelling even if I was explaining it the nice way. Before when we were actually looking for a land, I was hoping that we could have a nice neighbor but now it looks like it didn't happen. Re: 150mm between garage and boundary 10Dec 19, 2011 3:42 pm She should have consulted you by getting the details from the council about getting a fence erected. The Fence builder should have known better and they should have consulted you. There was no agreement on where the fence is going to be. Does that mean her garage is on the boundary? you may have to pay halves to fix the mistake as well as the rest of the fence cost that has been done so far. Had a new driveway installed with a 6 metre long 150 x 150 channel drain and have since found out it has 4cm of water sitting at the bottom below the side pipe… 0 4721 You should be able to encase the sewer but you will need it designed and approved and access to lot 580 to do the work 2 17155 thanks Chippy, i hope they have applied sealer but i am doubt to be honest, so i am gonna do this job after handover. 8 16268 |
