Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 13, 2011 1:30 pm Hi, I'm building in west of melbourne. Apparently, after we have done exhausted selection process, in the tender we just knew our builder, carlisle homes, doesn't offer fixed price contract. What that meant is builder can charge us certain fees during construction, although we have fixed site cost. We are thinking to find another builder. Does anyone know which builders that offer fixed price contract?? Thanks all Re: Fixed price contract? 2Nov 13, 2011 2:40 pm We had fixed site costs, our builder Bentley Homes offered this to us as we had fall on the land. There were no hidden costs within the contract, we paid what we originally signed for and only paid extra for the things that we added or upgraded. We also get fixed site costs. But in the tender, there are some conditions that are owner responsibilities and conditions that builder can charge certain amounts to cover unexpected cost Is it true? Can Anyone else share your experience please? Re: Fixed price contract? 4Nov 13, 2011 6:18 pm We were looking at Westminster and we hadnt even signed the contract and they were asking us for another $1600,lucky we jumped ship!!!! We went with Coral home's fixed contract and couldnt be happier.. We had too move our dirt which was an extra $350 which we felt was very cheap, and then just any added light fitings ect...anything extra we pay for,i would say get a home with a fixed contract or u never end up knowing what you might be up for... Shop around!!!!Ask questions.. GOOD LUCK... But we need to start over again it's very emotional after we spent so much times on selection. Re: Fixed price contract? 6Nov 13, 2011 7:50 pm everything about building is very EMOTIONAL,try sticking in selling a home also... Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17518 So AFAIk the outcomes of the BAL ratings form part of a clause that allows them to pass these costs on to you. However the more relevant detail is how did it go from 19… 1 9142 You talk about deletions, are they variations or PS and PC adjustments? pleas list them 1 16542 |
