Browse Forums Building A New House Re: New home, poor workmanship pics 21Nov 15, 2011 2:48 pm jjnella what type of issues are you having are they as bad as gbarney2. Wow kilmore is a little close to home. I think they were building quite a few houses there. A couple of them next door to each other. I know initally they were using some local subcontractors which were not very good. The plumber that started our place was from yea and he was an idiot, so I am not surprised that even though he came and checked the pipework it was wrong. With us he didnt allow for any outlets from the top story! Our frame and brickwork are excellent though. There were only two brickies as they couldnt get the large crew to travel so we got two guys and it took them over 5 months to finish the place, but they did a good job. The plumber they are using now is from Craigiburn and as far as I can see he hasnt put anything off centre yet. Think I will be praying a bit harder through the rest of the build process. We are already in the penalty zone, they were supposed to finish in September but are only half way through. I think one of the current affairs programs did a piece on one of the building companies mentioned a week or two ago. Glad to see you got and independent inspector as they should pick up a lot more to be fixed. Make sure you charge them the maximum per week for being late with hand over etc (from memory about $250), you may be able to charge over and above but would need to have your solicitor look at that. Re: New home, (In my opinion) poor workmanship pics 30Dec 13, 2011 7:14 am Hope next inspection goes well. I am building with the same builders and have my frame inspection booked for tomorrow morning. Have you had another independent inspection yet? I had my frame inspected by Theo as well last week. He found a few issues but things that could be quite easily solved (except for the pipes in the wrong spot which will need to be checked to ensure it is done correctly and does not affect the structural integrity of the slab. I hope everything is resolved quickly and to both you and your mums satisfaction. Hi, yes, we have the report. The builder has rectified the items on the report and we’re moving forward with the build. Thanks for reaching out 2 2944 Thanks for the suggestion. The space between shower and sinks was too tight. I agree about the toilet location. So I have tried two other options: The lower one is… 3 6144 these look like missing batts. Go up and take a look.
