Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 10, 2008 7:54 pm Hi all
Was out on site today and noticed that where they have installed our front door lock, in our lovely timber door, some idiot chippy has used the template upside down and we have 2 holes which have been plugged and varnished over under our door lock . The plugs are much darker than the rest of the door - i am oing to insist on a new door but wanted your thoughts on if you think they should give me one?? I agree - I am the boss!! Re: Front door stuff up - Should they fix?? 2Feb 10, 2008 8:00 pm Hi Slugger, do you have a picture of it to show us???
If it is noticeable, i'd say yes ask for a new one!!!!!!!! Re: Front door stuff up - Should they fix?? 3Feb 10, 2008 9:22 pm My door cost me $2000.... If this happened to me I would give them the choice of giving me the door for free or replacing it.
I guess it depends on how generous they were with pricing. If they made you pay for ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING then you had better make sure you get your moneys worth. I plan on getting every cent worth that my builder squeezed me for. Re: Front door stuff up - Should they fix?? 4Feb 10, 2008 10:57 pm SouthBris My door cost me $2000.... Might want to check if the door was level on all areas as well. When we checked our main entrance the other day, we found the top of the door was about 7cm from the brick edges, but the bottom was about 8cm. And we asked our builder to fix it. I met with the supervisor on site and he said that they wanted to try and fix it. I said that if i could see any sign of it that i would not be happy. Thought about it for 1 night and decided that i wasn't happy with a bodged up front feature door so told them i wanted a new one. Got it in writing the next day that a new one would be installed so happy with the result I agree - I am the boss!!
