Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Cosmopolitan Homes - Liquidator appointed 271Mar 23, 2012 3:22 pm Thanks Dunx. In your contract to the new builder, did you reference back to Cosmo's contract/specs etc? Our builder only want to refer to things they inspected and refused to reference back to Cosmo. Also we are doing Master Builder contract now instead of HIA, wondering if I need to spend money to get a lawyer to go thru this. Once bitten twice shy. But I am also fed up with the whole thing, don't want to bother any more, just close eyes and hope for the best Re: Cosmopolitan Homes - Liquidator appointed 272Mar 25, 2012 12:21 pm Chiao Thanks Dunx. If any companies tried to charge a lot, they would use their own supplier. They did use our old specs, but asked if we wanted to change anything before we signed a new contract with them. I haven't needed a lawyer. If you're still waiting on your money, I suggest you call Mark Batger as he will be the one submitting a report to QBE telling them how much work your house has left and what a reasonable quote is. I can't believe this, I really can't. Is there any honesty in this industry. Arhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Re: Cosmopolitan Homes - Liquidator appointed 274Mar 25, 2012 5:13 pm Hi Chaio, I feel so sorry for you, this is terrible! I guess the good thing is you didn't sign with them then find out that they've gone belly up! My advice to you is before you sign with anyone, do a little research....always check their liscence details on the ASIC website, it's amazing what that site can tell you , and if they are having any problems, you'll find out too. Re: Cosmopolitan Homes - Liquidator appointed 275Mar 25, 2012 6:28 pm Actually, the fair trading web site shows everything is fine. ASIC, if you search for the company name/ACN they provided, it is also fine. It just happened when I googled part of the company name, it comes up in some insolvance web site. I then spent money to retrieve the company detail and find this out. If they have been smart to set up a totally diff company name, I wouldn't have known. I felt like someone just run knife thru my heart, the 2nd time. It is so painful. But like springtime said, at least you found out before you signed. Which company was it (you can PM me if you prefer not to write publicly)?
