Hi,
I recently recieved a letter from the council stating that there is a lot of debri and other rubbish on my block which needs to be cleared by me. They actually sent photos of the debri on my block and also mentioned that if I don't clear them by the given deadline, I would be fined $1000.
I actually went over the weekend to have a look at my block and most of the stuff that's in there has actually been dumped by the neighbouring builders. The house next door is almost in the finishing stages so we noticed that the builders have actually dumped things like carpets, concrete, mud and other construction related items. Since we are going to be constructing with the same builders, we actually requested them to clear the stuff they have put on our block. But they were not co operative and said they could only remove those things that belonged to them. They denied that the carpets and other things on my block did not belong to them and could have been dumped by some other builder. As all the neighbouring houses are already finished, there is no else who is constructing apart from me neighbour on the right side. I called up the council over this but they said it was my responsibility to keep the block clean. Any advice on what I can do? The deadline is approaching soon and I'm worried that the council might send me a fine. Please help!
