Yes, the front just needs the garage doors now and also the cement paths that go around the house, they are also included in package. Landscaping we are doing ourselves after handover.

Yes - on the length of wall where the trough, machine etc go and round the corner to the door. These bathroom tiles are the ones we had to substitute as our original selection went out of stock; I actually prefer the subsitute selections now so that worked out well.

Eager, we still have cement paths to go, stormwater to be finished, rainwater tank, clothesline, touch up painting, BIR's, floor coverings, kitchen appliances, outside taps, screen doors, garage doors, finish light fittings, fencing - and a phone point in wrong place which needs to be moved - might be a few weeks yet, I think.

Last few things happening now. Well, other things could be happening on inside but can't get close enough to tell :lol:

Anyway we now have roller doors on garage.

Looks like a cage at the zoo, that's all the security fencing around the estate :roll:

And today the posts went in for fencing.
waiting to see what colour fences we are getting, this was the one thing in our house/land package we had no say in, all will be done the same.
I know this line of posts looks funny, block is an iregular shape, this side slopes inwards

What happened Eager??, I thought you were supposed to have handover last Thurs or Fri, had resigned myself to a humiliating loss in this competition :shock:

No no; handover is THIS Thursday or Friday, it's just that garage doors are about the last thing to be installed and for a moment I was verrrry worried. :lol:

Best 'o luck to you though, won't be long for both of us, but I think I'll get there first.

Isn't this an exciting update :lol:

Electricity is connected too, I should of taken a pic with the light on :wink:

But nothing else done on inside.
Except a phone socket on the phone outlet. Still in wrong position, although I have pointed this out many times :shock:

It is supposed to be at height for a wall phone, not 2 inches above the skirting board :roll:

, electrician was there when I visited,
he said he will get it moved.
That's what they all say, will be keeping eye out to check it does this time :lol:

Drove past on way home from work today, our fence isn't started but one of the neighbours' is and it seems to be "wheat", the same colour as our tank.
As we know all the fencing in the estate of packages will be the same, we now know we will get a wheat fence.
Quite happy with this, will suit our house quite well, I remember once the supervisor said the fences might be willow green, which I'm sure is a very nice colour, but we thought would look odd with our cream and red house.

thanks stonecutter, yes, ultra-modern style it is not but we love the old country cottage look and we live in the country and hot dry climate so a verandah is practical as well as looking good.

how is your land comeing on? getting any closer ?

donuts, this was suggested to us at our electrical appointment, very glad it was as we might of forgotten too and it is something that will get used for many purposes.
Actually I must say the guy that did our electrical appointment at Clipsal was very helpful and made many useful suggestions without being at all pushy.

Have you moved in yet? We are also building in steel so very interested to see how long the various stages took.

Do you have any sort of insulation on the inside walls?

Looking like a very sensible house for the climate. Also looks like you really didn't have any major problems with the build process

No we haven't moved in yet - handover is supposed to be this friday 19th Sept according to an email we got last week, however stilll quite a few things to be done so this week will have to be a flurry of activity if all ready in 5 days!
The first 2 houses in estate of 34 house/land packages were handed over last friday.
I suspect ours will end up being the following week.

Our current house is under contract, settlement date of Oct 28th, so we intend to move our things over gradually during October and also organise blinds, furniture ( I have some new things on order expected delivery date Oct 1st), roller shutters etc before we move in.

Re insulation: yes, we have internal wall insulation R 1.5 inc, insulation to external walls 2.0 inc. Insulation to ceiling 3.0 inc; "to assist in complying with 5 star energy rating"

We signed up for house/land package part way thru last year, signed structural contract in Sept 07, did selections in Dec 07, land titled in Feb this year, building started soon after and almost finished now.

Have had no major problems at all, a few minor hiccups as mentioned on this thread but generally went well. As you can see, house is modest affair of 23 squares, single story, sort of an 'empty nesters' home, only 1 child left at home now.

So, if handover is to be this Friday and quite a few things still to be done, you would think some progress would be made today.

But, No - went for a walk to new house after work and - Nothing :shock:

Not a single thing done since last week!

Hmmm, Tues, Wed,Thurs- now only 3 days until Friday - I can't see it :roll:

It's amazing how close your builder will let things go before suddenly deciding to delay handover. :roll:

BTW who is your builder? Are they exclusively local to your area or do they travel up from the big smoke?
