Browse Forums Building A New House Re: first sign of action - photographic frenzy! 181Oct 05, 2008 9:20 pm Our block is 22 m wide at its widest point, ie the street frontage, but the back yard is not 16m x 22m as one side of block slopes fairly sharply inwards such that front width is 22m but back width is only 15m, does that make sense? Re: first sign of action - photographic frenzy! 184Oct 08, 2008 5:53 pm Did our pre handover walk through today, still a few things to be finished and a few things to be touched up, but nothing major.
Handover looking hopeful for Friday or early next week at the latest Re: first sign of action - photographic frenzy! 188Oct 10, 2008 10:06 pm Well, Friday has come and gone and No, we have not had handover.
Apparently everything is done, (although the oven is not installed and minor paint touch up on front verandah not done) , the electrician is going to change the data point which was incorrect, he has ordered part and we have his number so I am Ok with leaving that to be done after handover, also the antenna bloke is coming to install TV antenna on Monday. TV antenna - we didn't even know we were getting one, sure isn't in the specifications???!!! - and we had arranged for one to be installed after handover at a cost of $300 - but who's arguing, not going to look a gift horse in the mouth!!! Comedy of errors - antenna installer accidently installed antenna on neighbour's house, which is nowhere near handover, hasn't even got plastered walls yet, instead of on ours!!! But Monday is fine for that. Major stumbling block for handover- courier company forgot to send keys from Adelaide!!! They are still in city office!!! So, handover is now set for 10:00 next Wednesday. We could of had it on Monday but DH working 12 hour shifts and doesn't knock off until 7 pm, so Wed when we are both off work is more convenient. For next Wednesday.. we were supposed to have our walk through, but was cancelled. Hope your handover pushes through without any hassles. Good luck and looking forward to...... photos!!!!!!!!!!!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Helyn, Our SS had a two-week leave and nothing much happened during his absence. That walk thru was scheduled by the Construction Manager, who I suppose, doesn't know anything about our house (and refuses to fix the electrical issues that we raised, saying that they were all based on the plans). Yes, it is frustrating, but because we're nearing the end of the building journey, we would rather wait and have a quality house , than rush and encounter problems in the future. Gosh, I'm so jealoous of your handover...... really hope that it's a stress-free one! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping!
