Browse Forums Building A New House Re: When to install ceiling fans during building? 2Oct 28, 2011 3:21 pm Hi babysaurs, I think it depends on the builder. Some builders charge a lot for the fans themselves, or they do not offer a wide selection. I am just getting provisions for ceiling fans put in by my builder so a batten light with nogging to support the fan, and we will purchase our fans from somewhere else afterwards and have them put in. Labour-wise was not a worry for cost, but our builder was charging around $400ish for a fan, and we didn't really like the fan they were offering anyway. If you're going with a smaller builder you may be able to provide your own fans and have them install it, I'm sure that would be cheaper.
