Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 26, 2011 9:38 pm Well I sat down tonight and started my own blog, hope you like it so far. Will try and keep it updated. http://santorini26.blogspot.com Re: Building with Metr!con in SA 2Oct 27, 2011 6:37 am I really like the Santorini floor plan - we actually wanted to go with it, but it ended up being too wide as we have an easement we cant build on. We are building with Metri but in Melbourne. Good luck with your build! Building the Milano30 Site start: 30th June 2011 PCI: 1st December 2011 Handover: As soon as the bank pays! It looks like we are your first follower too. We too will be starting to fill in our blog, we have had our block since the start of the year and never thought it would take us this long to find which plan we want to build...we keep toing and froing on what plan to go and have been down to Melbourne, up to the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Gold Coast to look through displays. Next week we will be heading NewCastle way to look at the Grandview. I have a soft spot for the Santorini, we have actually been through a few but my fave was in Melbourne as it was decorated exactly to my liking. Look forward to seeing your build come together. Re: Building with Metr!con in SA 4Oct 27, 2011 4:06 pm Hi there, I'm from SA and we are considering looking into building next year or so. I would love to follow your blog as M*tricon are new here. We had a looked at their homes in Mt Barker a few weeks ago, they looked great and they have really good floor plans. Would love to see your modified plan if you are able to share it. Good luck! Re: Building with Metr!con in SA 5Oct 27, 2011 7:14 pm Hi guys, Thanks for following our blog! I hope to keep it updated faster than the paperwork process takes so it looks like some sort of action is coming together haha. If you get a chance, go down and see the 3 homes on display at Blakes Crossing. Hopefully I get our plan next week and I will post it on my blog for you Mrsrusty. I think most would love the new design with the pantry. I'll see if I can do a little sneak preview of our design change before I show our full design So far, I can see Metr!con's process working out really well. From initial sign up, they will have your drawings, soil report and contract estimated to you within 6 weeks. They expect from Initial signing to slab is between 4.5 months to 6 months at latest depending on your council area. Cheers! Re: Building with Metr!con in SA 6Oct 28, 2011 4:04 pm Great thanks look forward to seeing the pantry redesign. One of the M*tricon houses at Mt Barker had a huge one, my husband couldn't stop talking about it. Good luck, and will keep an eye out on your blog! Re: Building with Metr!con in SA 7Oct 28, 2011 8:06 pm We are building the 29 Santorini with M in victoria and were up to last touches of painting.. We've had a great build so far and really happy with things.... We extended the dining area...extended the alfresco...added a window in BD 4...changed sitting to BD 5...changed and made bigger the linen cupboard to be a computer alcove with slider door.Linen cupboard was so big it was a crazy waste of space...Moved linen cupboard to other side of BD5..Also extended the garage....think this is all.. We are doing the wood floors/carpet after handover...Tiling begins next Wednesday. Kitchen is in.... Re: Building with Metr!con in SA 8Oct 31, 2011 6:54 pm Hey Emily, Your 29 sounds like it will be a lovely home! Yeah glad I extended the dining room out that extra 1m and had the alfresco 5m in length for the extra room! Great idea about making the living a bedroom 5 and also the linen cupboard was exceptionally large, so a computer room would work great I think. Did you not go for the flooring in the promotion, even tho they were basically a given in the $11,990 promotion? Unless we have different deals to you guys? I have updated our blog with a cut and paste of our pantry change onto the standard plan. Hopefully get our real drawings with all the changes this week! Anxious to keep the ball rolling Re: Building with Metr!con in SA 9Oct 31, 2011 8:19 pm we are doing our own wood floors and carpet after handover....our site superviser may be able to give us a date on Friday as to handover...painting finished...tiling should be done by friday then were up to fit off's....so happy with everything so far.. Hopefully we should receive them back today or very early next week along with soil report and the estimated contract. Getting closer now, so the excitement is starting to kick in. Booked in at Studio M for a look around this month so we can prepare ourselves the best we can! Will show some drawings when I receive them. Re: Building with Metr!con in SA - Modified Santorini 26 13Feb 27, 2012 7:59 pm Hey guys, After a few months, we are finally starting our build this week! Since my last update, we completed our selections appointment with Studio M, which went very well. Surprising, we didn't really need to upgrade too much, as the standard inclusions were above the quality I thought we were receiving. We were both very impressed, however, our big spender was our electrical appointment but without going over the top. I've attached an image of our modified plans, comparing the standard plan. It took me many nights playing around with the original plan, drafting something up we would absolutely love. Hope you all like what we are building. We're both getting excited now knowing it all starts this week after months of waiting Adrian Original Metr!con Plan http://i646.photobucket.com/albums/uu189/adrianrigby/Santorini26OriginalPlan.jpg Our Modified Plan http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/7208/rigbywylieplan.jpg Our Front View http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/733/rigbywyliefrontplan.jpg Re: Building with Metr!con in SA - Modified Santorini 26 14Feb 28, 2012 9:39 am Congrats ... your plan looks great - love the huge pantry!! Have you arranged for water to be plumbed to the fridge? it doesn't cost much and then you can have the ice/water fridge if you want ... now or in the future For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Building with Metr!con in SA - Modified Santorini 26 15Feb 28, 2012 12:18 pm Thanks! Took awhile to design the pantry the partner prefered, getting rid of the "dead space" entry into garage on the original plan. I did have that question raised, however we had just bought a new fridge which doesn't have the ice/water function, so we decided against it. Probably would be worth it in the long run, but can always change this later as I could tee into the capped water point in the roof for the air con. I will probably end up speaking with the tradies on the job when they're doing those points for a cashy job. Re: Building with Metr!con in SA - Modified Santorini 26 16Mar 10, 2012 10:01 am Hi guys, well after a little wait, we're finally starting Tuesday. Yesterday we had 3 piles of dirt delivered ready for the cut and fill and a nice fancy sign! My site supervisor is everything I could ask for and can see us getting along very well. He's given me the first 2 month schedule and showed me how everything works on his PDA. I must add, it's all very professional and very well organised without going into detail. We will have a roof on the 30th of this month... yes just in 20 days time! Lock up on 16th April. Here's a little picture of the progress i have finally seen after the months that seem to take forever! I will update with some more on Tuesday http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/684/img0672we.jpg Re: Metriicon SA build - Modified Santorini 26 - Site Levell 17Mar 16, 2012 9:42 am Dont' you love it when the portaloo turns up ... you know it's happening at last!!! Re: Metriicon SA build - Modified Santorini 26 - Site Levell 18Mar 16, 2012 10:56 am Hi Rigby, I love M's floor plans and display homes, hope it all goes well in SA. I like your changes to the pantry area much better than a walk way, I was wondering why the door into the garage doesn't open the other way, it would work better opening against the wall, just an idea as give you more floor space Re: Metriicon SA build - Modified Santorini 26 - Site Levell 19Mar 16, 2012 9:25 pm Hi there, So far so good, i love the Santorini design as you can enter the pantry via the garage, dump your groceries and keep going! Wish my block was wider! Hope all goes well, will be following your blog All the best By and large, language is a tool for concealing the truth Re: Metriicon SA build - Modified Santorini 26 - Site Levell 20Mar 18, 2012 9:02 am Thanks guys - appreciate the nice comments Haha Mclaren, yep I knew it was full steam ahead when I had seen the dunny arrived Mac25 - I'm not sure really, I guess I was studying so much over the plans before we entered into the preliminary contract, only to miss a couple things I would've preferred. The pantry was a lovely additional change we made (to satisfy the misses), but I'm already telling her my golf clubs will be stored there haha. The original Santorini design was a little different hurryupandbuy, it originally had a corridor going from the garage. I personally found this a little waste of space, so out came the sketch pad to find a way! They hadn't started on the excavation Friday gone, besides put a string line out, so hopefully Monday they will kick start again. Can't see the slab being poured until the end of the week now. This is 100% true. You can not hang anything on steel frames. very frustrating 8 10346 Its the flashing and is normal. Some builders cover them up others just leave them handing. You can cover it up with an aluminium bracket or ask the builder. 7 11775 Hi, We have a single story MacDonald Jones house, on a waffle pod slab with steel frame.
