Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 19, 2011 11:21 pm Hi all. Which builder would you suggest out of these two? Who has better quality inclusions and who has more value for your money? Although RedInk seems to be more expensive than Summit Homes, don't know why - can someone explain from personal experience if the price difference is justified? Does RedInk offer better/more standard inclusions that included in the price? Are they more demanding than Summit Homes or Summit Homes have more control over their trades (if I can put it this way)? Thank you for your help. Summit Homes or RedInk (WA, Perth) 3Oct 20, 2011 2:04 pm I don't know that you can compare the builders. 2 plans and inclusion lists maybe, but I dunno. I would have said summit were higher quality but have loved a couple of red ink displays. my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Re: Summit Homes or RedInk (WA, Perth) 4Oct 20, 2011 11:25 pm tinkster I don't know that you can compare the builders. 2 plans and inclusion lists maybe, but I dunno. Re: Summit Homes or RedInk (WA, Perth) 6Oct 21, 2011 11:39 am I've not done the comparisons, but just keep in mind that about 4-5 years ago, Scott Park (The man) was bought out of Scott Park (The builder) so Scott Park (The man) Started Red Ink. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=46664 Building in Baldivis, Western Australia. Yes, I know that, but in overall comparison who would have a better quality inclusions and better workmanship? I don't really worry about who takes longer to build, I need to know who will do it better. RedInk's base prices seems to be quite high for what it is, that's why I'm interested to know if the cost is really justifiable. Re: Summit Homes or RedInk (WA, Perth) 8Oct 21, 2011 4:19 pm Just found some feedback on Summit ( http://www.productreview.com.au/p/summit-homes.html ); can this be true. I thought they were very reputable company. More feedback on RedInk ( http://www.productreview.com.au/p/redink-homes.html ); they don't get 5 stars either. Low end builders seems to be better, how can this be; what about quality and finishings. I was sure that "you get what you pay for". Re: Summit Homes or RedInk (WA, Perth) 9Oct 23, 2011 3:30 am So, anyone else care to share their experience and opinions on the matter? Re: Summit Homes or RedInk (WA, Perth) 10Oct 23, 2011 9:13 am Built with Summit once - turnkey job for an investment property and was not and am still not impressed with build quality. Currently building with DAH, building quality "reasonable" if you keep on their back, communication bad. Take a look at Product Review - none of the so called top end builders have better than a 50% satisfaction rating - says something about their attitudes. So you're saying that neither Summit or RedInk are good? Why the hell do they charge so much for their houses then? Wouldn't you expect better quality and workmanship from more expensive builders? I read on this forum that one person suggested to look at 4 builders that have great quality homes: Summit, RedInk, Dale Alcock & Scott Park? Am I missing something? Very confused who to choose... Re: Summit Homes or RedInk (WA, Perth) 12Oct 23, 2011 11:19 am I think, at the end of the day, you are never going to find the "best" builder. They all have issues, all the time, what you can read here or other places online is generally the worst of the feedback, people complain louder than they ever applaud. Choose a plan, or choose a package, in the end it all comes down to the tradies and individual CLO and SS and you can't pick them. my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Re: Summit Homes or RedInk (WA, Perth) 14Oct 23, 2011 12:47 pm Prices are generally higher due to higher spec inclusions or more inclusions. Build quality is a lottery based on who your site super is (and bear in mind he'll only be on site for 0.5 to 1.0 hrs per week) and the tradies that are available. None of the four you mention actually build your house, they simply sub it out to whoever is available. Possible that some of the higher end builders might be able to attract better tradies due to being able to pay more but no evidence to suggest that. I've heard that the DAH people reccommend you build with Zorsi if you want a quality build.
