Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 18, 2011 11:52 pm Hi Guys, I am building my first home with Simonds, it has being a long journey but it's finally in the final stage of the building work after 1 LONG year and 4 days since construction commenced. I will be having my re-inspection this Thursday but there is two problem that is really bothering me. 1. There is some sort of pipe inside my cabinet next to the strove area. I suspect this is a gas pipe and it really concerns in terms of safety because it means I have to be careful with what I store inside the cabinet. I was told by Simonds that this is normal but I'm no builder and I don't know its true or not. See Photo http://www.mediafire.com/i/?kni3p1gotk7uc52 2. Whoever installed the sink didn't follow the proper measurement as per drawing in the contract. They have unprofessionally cut the side panel off (next to Dish washer area) to fitted the sink into its place. When I raise this problem with Simonds they said they will put another panel to cover over it. The problem is that putting another side panel over it means that I might not be able to fit a Dish washer into the because of the extra panel. I personally want them to take it out and properly install it as this is not something I can easily replace myself and it will stay with me for as long as I own property. Not to mention value deprecation if I were to sale the place. See Photo http://www.mediafire.com/i/?qh7lsnfjfe6z2hk I really need some expert or honest advice/opinion on this. I apologise if someone else has already posted similar question. Thanks in advance guys. Re: Pipe in Cabinet and Sink Problem 2Oct 19, 2011 5:19 am 1. Thats fairly standard. 2. Not really a great job. It looks like the real problem is that the sink cut out is in the wrong place on the counter top and the installer has bodged it. You only need the panel which will be about 3-4mm thick if you haven't got a dishwasher in place. With the Dishwasher in place no one will see the bodge so it won't affect any future price. Really its up to you either get a new counter top and cupboard side or ask for a price reduction The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! That looks to be the gas line for your cooktop - warning, the connection will stick straight out from here and take up a bit of room in your cupboard, but it is standard 2. That definitely looks extramely *, if it was me they would be replacing the benchtop and the cupboard underneath - look at the display home's under sink cabinet - that is what yours should be like yep sounds good make the footing bigger to to allow for the pipe in the middle 3 7320 Plumbers 'can be' plumbers, made all the worse by self certification which the building surveyor invariably accepts as proof of compliance!
