Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 18, 2011 7:01 pm Hi there, As I am starting new house project and I have come across few dilemmas. Some of them are: Can I use imported prefabricated PVC windows? Is there any place on final inspection Report and Occupancy Permit concerning the windows? Is there any issue with changing Sliding windows design with tilted windows design (they look a bit different on the drawings with sliding windows having line in the middle)? I would highly appreciate informed respond and I want to thank in advance to anyone who will use some of his leisure time to share his experience. Thank you Jack Re: PVC Windows 2Nov 02, 2011 2:06 pm The correct term is uPVC meaning unplasticised....i have recently had them fitted in my house and am very happy. I imported them from a Chinese manufacturer as I did also with the kitchen....dealing with China can be a mine field but I can help and guide you if required.....Bob. Did you have any problems or unexpected questions with the imported windows during the building inspections? All australian windows have stickers on them stating that they meet AU standards, imported windows wouldn't have those stickers, can it be a problem? We are also going to import our double-glazed windows from Europe (as well as kitchen) and we already asked our building surveyor if it's ok with him, he told us that everything is fine as long as there is some documentation for the windows provided... Did you have to provide anything to your building surveyor at all? Thanks Re: PVC Windows 4Nov 03, 2011 10:47 am Nika25 select The correct term is uPVC meaning unplasticised....i have recently had them fitted in my house and am very happy. These are different from the standards overseas, and different from international standards.
