Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 06, 2008 1:38 pm Yes, its true. We bought the land and signed the house contracts in March 2007, and now have an "OK to start date". When we bought the land it looked like a paddock, it was a new stage in an existing estate. Development took a little longer than expected, and settlement finally happened in October 2007. After our selections appointments and such, plans were submitted to council on the 1st December 2007. We had council approval on the 16th January. After all the checks and "stuff', we have been given a start date of 1st Feb. Which, in theory means, we should have site works starting in about 4 weeks...... yah yah yah.
I have been a regular reader of others progress and, in some circumstances, disappointments, and am really excited to be starting our own building journey. So far its been pretty painless, we seem to have had really great people on our side. The initial saleswoman from Stateman Homes was fantastic, the colour selections appointment went really well, no hidden nasties, the council were really helpful (Onkaparinga Council) and financing this project has gone really smoothly, we even saved money thanks to higher than expected valuations. So hopefully these are signs of how things will continue to go... We look forward to sharing photos and news to come, Chat soon, Andy and Donna Re: After 12 months, we are about to start... 2Feb 06, 2008 2:08 pm Congratualtions. You must be so excited that,s it,s all about to happen! 12 months is a long time to wait....we are building with Hickinbothan Homes, which I think are linked to Statesman? Which home are you building? Is it single or double storey? We,re building the Ambassador which is a double storey. We signed up 7 months ago and we still haven,t gone to council yet! I hope our council approval is as quick as yours! We are in Alexandrina Council. Looking forward to hearing all about your build and lots of pics Good luck with it all Cheers Mel This certainly doesn't look good.
