I hope we can organise this when Ryan has his days off! We have organised our carpet separately through Solomons, as it was cheaper and the best underlay available. And the guy was really friendly and helpful. I like good customer service i think it goes a long way!! Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis @ Field River Estate T 42Jan 16, 2012 1:26 pm From memory it was a couple of hours going through the plumbing, doors, kitchen and bath stuff, etc at Adelaide Plumbing Building Centre, an hour at Italia Ceramics, half an hour at A&L Windows, a few hours at Sampina Kitchens, a waste of time at Laminex - only good for looking at what's available - they can't give you any idea of costs to upgrade etc. and I think that's about it ... Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis @ Field River Estate T 43Jan 16, 2012 1:34 pm Oh great, thanks for that. So a couple of days (with someone babysitting our son) would be enough? Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis @ Field River Estate T 44Jan 16, 2012 1:37 pm Yes I should think so ... oops just remembered the electrical appointment (how could I forget that!!) - they are in the same area as Sampina so you can book them one after the other. Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis @ Field River Estate T 45Jan 16, 2012 1:39 pm Oh cool Thanks Annette, don't know what i would do with out you!!! Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis @ Field River Estate T 46Jan 16, 2012 8:20 pm Hi Cats, We both work full time and it took us approx 3 weeks to do all our selections (it was really hard for us to book ours in around work). We have our final appoint with Dechellis head office this Friday. Land Settled 08/11/11 Council Approval 23/12/11 Final Selections 20/01/12 Start Date 18/07/12 Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis @ Field River Estate T 47Jan 16, 2012 8:41 pm Oh wow 3 weeks. We live 6 hours away so will have to do it in a few days when we come to Adelaide. At least when we're there we're not working. I think a babysitter will be required so we can concentrate and get through as quick and stress free as possible! Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis @ Field River Estate T 48Feb 03, 2012 6:49 pm So we just found out we have to have a split level. And wow did the footing Price go up. Can anyone from field river estate give me a rough idea of cost of footings, just wondering if ours is reasonable. Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis @ Field River Estate T 49Feb 06, 2012 10:38 am It's a bit late in the day to find that our isn't it? That'll blow your budget for sure - hope it's not too costly - could be nice though? Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis @ Field River Estate T 50Feb 06, 2012 11:43 am all houses in the estate needed to be split level. Although it was not in the land documentation nearly every house got stung as soon as it went to council. (i know 1 house didnt but had to pay for all retaining walls on the boundary) Cant remember exactly how much it cost us but we needed to take off some of the luxuries of the house to pay for it (solar hot water, rendering and the terrace). We did also raise our roof to be the same hight throughout the house which did cos us a bit. Think footings were roughly $30,000. But think about how much you would have to pay in retaining walls without the split. we didnt realise until the house was cut how much of a slope there is. Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis @ Field River Estate T 51Feb 06, 2012 11:45 am YeP budget well and truely blown, $45k for footings. I don't mind having the split, just the cost! Waiting for new plans in mail , but from what I understood on the phone we will have 3m ceilings all the way down the hallway to the back living room now. Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis @ Field River Estate T 52Feb 06, 2012 1:48 pm Wow thats a lot, i dont know what you can do otherwise. We have 3.2 meter ceilings through 80% of the house. I absolutely love it, makes it so open and large. Is your house easy to split? Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis @ Field River Estate T 53Feb 06, 2012 2:40 pm Hi Cats01, I think I am your neighbour . We are # 4 Simon court so the last block on the right facing down the court. We are just about to submit our plans to the encumbrance manager and a little worried the council are going to tell us to split as the costs will go through the roof. That makes me really mad that someone has dumped that rock on your land. I suspect it was when the people were doing the retaining walls because I remember it just showing up one day (I go pass it a couple times week as it is on the way to the in-laws) and I am pretty sure there were no foundations happening at the time. Now that I can contact you if I notice anything like that I will be sure to let you know straight away. Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis @ Field River Estate T 54Feb 06, 2012 3:15 pm Yes we were very annoyed with that rock getting dumped. Yes, you are our neighbor! Who are you building with? We were really shocked as we were told "oh no you won't need a split ". I don't mind though, just the cost. Although as someone said we would have had to pay for more retaining anyway so I guess it works out. Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis @ Field River Estate T 55Feb 06, 2012 4:44 pm We are building with Homestead SA, Before we selected a design we took our site plan down to the council and spoke to a on duty planner, They said that we should not need to split unless the retaining walls are over 1 metre as that is what the Development act states. Guess we just have to wait and see what they come back with. Besides the split have the council been ok with you guys? Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis @ Field River Estate T 56Feb 06, 2012 5:18 pm We haven't really had much to do with the council, dechellis have done it all. I rang once to see approx how long approval takes and got the answer "how long is a piece of string" so from then on I just kept checking the website. Good luck with your approval! Let us know how you go, do you have your own thread? Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis @ Field River Estate T 57Feb 06, 2012 5:27 pm Will do, I havent started a build thread yet as we have been working out the finer details with the builder. Hoping to have everything sorted by Wednesday this week, starting to get excited. Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis @ Field River Estate T 58Feb 28, 2012 2:20 pm Well a quick update, we have decided to put our build on hold for a while. the cost of footings was getting a bit out of hand so instead of stressing ourselves with a huge mortgage we have contatced Realty SA and arranged additional time to begin building (sorry neighbours) Please let us know if our land is getting messy or people are continuing to dump stuff on there. Good Luck blacklab, hope you have better luck with the council than we did in the end. Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis @ Field River Estate T 59Feb 28, 2012 8:53 pm Hi Cats, we have not hit council yet as we are still waiting for the final plans from the builder. We have had them put a split in prior to submitting the plans to council as it seems we would have had no luck getting it passed without one . It is good to hear that Realty SA were accommodating with the extension to the build time.. Was it hard to arrange or were they pretty easy going with it? Re: Building the McLaren by Dechellis @ Field River Estate T 60Feb 28, 2012 9:25 pm Realty SA were really easy going actually, thank god cos it was a hard decision to make and that made it easier to handle go upvc window frames ensure insulation under colorbond. not just sarking, lighter color roof also not sure if you have seen this viewtopic.php?t=5823 last couple of pages… 4 110566 |
