Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 12, 2011 9:29 pm Can anyone out there please give us some advice about how to correct a poor choice of timber stain for our front windows? We chose 'Red Box' out of the dulux brochure at our colour consult and we are quite shocked at how out there in your face, almost fluoro look. The house is north facing so do you think it will fade fairly quickly? Our painter said he can do the second coat of stain a different colour, but which one do we choose to get an acceptable result. We just don't want it to look so red/orange. The windows are the main feature of our facade as the rest of our colours are fairly muted. Anyway, enough babble here is the photo which I feel doesn't really show it for how bad it is. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24590002/Photos/Building/Colours/HouseStain1.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24590002/Photos/Building/Colours/HouseStain2.jpg Cheers, Alkalised My Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=49140 Our Blog: http://buildingattheavenue.blogspot.com/ Re: Colour correction advice please! Front timber windows 2Oct 12, 2011 9:55 pm I really like it. If you want to tone it down, I would choose something more brown coloured. Re: Colour correction advice please! Front timber windows 3Oct 13, 2011 9:06 pm Thanks for your opinion and advice Tamara, really appreciate it. We are trying to look at the bigger picture as well ie when there's a garden. Our builder is just going to leave it as is, no more coats and we will decide what to do later. It's probably also a matter of we were so used to seeing the natural timber that the change takes some getting used to . Front timber windows 4Oct 13, 2011 9:10 pm I like it too. I think it will look nice one there is a lawn and some garden around it. Re: Colour correction advice please! Front timber windows 5Oct 13, 2011 9:41 pm I have just had another look. And I still like it. I think it will be a stunning feature when the gardens etc are done. Re: Colour correction advice please!
